Another delay hits Grand Theft Auto VI, pushing it back by six months

Take-Two and Rockstar Games had something new to share about Grand Theft Auto VI today, but unfortunately, this wasn"t a surprise trailer drop. This time, the latest entry in the massively popular action games has been hit with a delay, marking the second time its release date has been pushed back.

The previous delay saw Grand Theft Auto VI being pushed from a broad 2025 launch window to a more firm 2026, May 26, release date. It said this was to give the game time so it can exceed expectations. That date is now also being abandoned, with Grand Theft Auto VI"s new release date being November 19, 2026.

The sudden announcement arrived via Rockstar Games" social media, which contained a simple message.

"Hi everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026," said Rockstar. "We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

So far, two trailers of Grand Theft Auto VI have been released, giving a look at what the highly anticipated project will look like, its returning setting, as well as its new two-protagonist structure.

Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick also made a statement regarding the delay during the company"s latest financial results release, saying that "we expect to achieve record levels of Net Bookings in Fiscal 2027, which will establish a new baseline for our business and set us on a path of enhanced profitability."

Grand Theft Auto VI is so far confirmed for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles only, with the publisher still being evasive when talking about a PC edition. If the new release date holds this time, expect to jump back into the streets of Vice City on November 19, 2026.
