EA and Battlefield Studios had a massive launch with Battlefield 6. The large-scale multiplayer-focused shooter is only a month into its launch, and the developer is sticking to its 2025 roadmap quite well. Today, another new map entered the game, and alongside it, fresh weapons, Portal additions, changes to how aim assist works on controllers, and more are included here.
The new map is named Eastwood. Touting a Southern California theme, multiple versions with different playable areas are now present for players to jump into across all the official modes of Battlefield 6.
Next, the studio has added two new weapons: the DB-12 shotgun and the M357 Trait sidearm. There"s a limited-time game mode available with the update too. Dubbed Sabotage, this themed event has players being focused on demolitions and counterplay.
Portal mode has received some attention as well. This includes a Sandbox map option for players to start with a fresh plane to begin their creations and the Golf Cart vehicle. The studio plans to enable Battle Pickups in Portal soon too, the limited-ammo drops that offer high-power weaponry to players.
Outside of new content, Battlefield Studios has made some major changes under the hood of the engine too. The developer said that aim assist has been reverted to how it functioned during the Battlefield 6 open beta. This should allow for "consistent infantry targeting behavior across all input types," per the team. Controller aim should feel better overall, as input latency and stick response timings have been tightened with the update.
"After reviewing player feedback and gameplay data, we’re reverting aim assist back to the values some of you experienced during Open Beta and Battlefield Labs," said the developer about the aim assist changes. "This will now serve as the default, whilst still providing you with the ability to alter the aim assist to your preference and playstyle via settings. This change keeps aim slowdown consistent across all ranges, helping with muscle memory and providing a steadier, more reliable feel as we move into future seasons."
Battlefield 6 game update 1.1.2.0 is now live across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Check out the complete changelog from Battlefield Studios over here.
