Battlefield 6 was supposed to receive its second season of content in January, but EA decided to give the development team more time for polishing it. Today, the company revealed that Season 2's release is finally happening on February 17, and alongside the launch date, we now know what's coming with it. The season is being split into three phases.

Landing on February 17 will be the Extreme Measures phase, which brings the large-scale Contaminated map that takes place in a German airbase in a mountainous region.

"Drop into the European mountainside and evade the psychoactive smoke filling the air," explains the studio. "Wage all-out war across the crucial German airbase and grapple over the rocky terrain in this expansive battleground where crucial satellite intelligence is at stake. Both PAX and NATO will stop at nothing to ensure the territory is theirs."

That psychoactive smoke is from a limited-time mode that will land alongside the update, which fills parts of the map with gas that players must use masks to avoid. While non-lethal, it will cause players to see disorienting effects and hallucinations.

Extreme Measures will also add the AH-6 Little Bird helicopter, the GRT-CPS Marksman Rifle, VCR-2 Assault Rifle, and M121 A2 LMG as new weapons, as well as the 9K38 IGLA Air-Defense Launcher, and the HTI-MK2 gadget Suppression System.

The next phase is called Nightfall, and it's landing on March 17 carrying the infantry-focused underground map Hagental Base. Its own limited event will make use of night vision goggles, flashlights, and thermal scopes due to the almost complete darkness players will be fighting in. This will bring the CZ3A1 SMG, VZ.61 Sidearm, and even a Dirt Bike for quickly maneuvering across the battlefield.

The final phase of Season 2 will land on April 14 with the name Hunter / Prey. Considering this update is a few months away, EA did not give a lot of details about it. However, we do know that it will conclude the current narrative event surrounding the Hagental Base, bring in the Traverser Mark II as a light tactical vehicle, a machete as a new melee option, and fresh Portal mode updates.
