Don't expect Alcatel's new Windows 10 Mobile flagship to go on sale in Europe

They"re not kidding about that exclusivity

Earlier this week, Alcatel announced the IDOL 4S with Windows 10, its new flagship phone with virtual reality support. The device shares its name with an Android version of the device that was released this summer, although the Windows 10 Mobile model features far better specs in many areas, including a more powerful processor, more RAM, more storage, and a higher-resolution camera.

In the US, the device is launching exclusively on T-Mobile, but Alcatel said nothing about its availability in other markets. That led French site TheWinDose.fr to ask the company on Twitter if it was planning to launch the IDOL 4S with Windows 10 in Europe.

@Mxiden @TheWinDose Bonjour. Ce modèle n"est pas prévu pour l"Europe. Bien à vous ! ?

The response was not a positive one - Alcatel said "this model is not intended for Europe", and with no further indications of possible international availability, it appears that the IDOL 4S with Windows 10 is destined to remain exclusive to T-Mobile in the US.

If that remains the case, it won"t be entirely surprising. Alcatel"s last Windows 10 Mobile device, the low-cost Fierce XL with Windows, which launched earlier this year, was also a T-Mo US exclusive.

We asked Alcatel if it intends to make its new flagship available in other markets, but the company declined to comment on anything other than its T-Mobile launch.
