First-gen Surface Go receives firmware updates with a bunch of fixes

Following a series of firmware updates for all Surface Laptop generations, Microsoft is now rolling out firmware updates for the first-generation Surface Go, which include both the Wi-Fi only and LTE versions. The updates bring a host of fixes, including improvements to charging reliability, bunch of camera improvements. The update also improves reliability of the device with the Surface Dock 2.

As is the case with most of the recent updates, devices must be running the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (version 1903) or newer. Additionally, the update is not flagged as a “Gradual Roll-out” like the previous update for the devices released in May 2020. This means that though not all devices will see the update right away, it will be delivered more quickly, so it should make it to all tablets sooner rather than later.

Just like with the recent updates for other Surface computers, these enhancements bring reliability improvements, security fixes, and other improvements. As usual, these updates should be installed automatically for both variants of the Surface Go – the Wi-Fi only and LTE Advances models. Users can also choose to head to Windows Update and check for updates to pull the firmware package. Additionally, the firm states that there are no known issues with the update, which is a good thing.
