A few months ago, Google announced its Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (popularly known as Nano Banana) image generation and editing model. At the time of release, Gemini 2.5 Flash Image was the state-of-the-art in several key AI image generation benchmarks.
Today, Google announced Gemini 3 Pro Image (codenamed Nano Banana Pro), a state-of-the-art image generation and editing model. Google claims that this new model uses Gemini’s state-of-the-art reasoning and real-world knowledge to generate more accurate images than ever before. Additionally, this model can use the power of Google Search to create images based on real-time information, like weather, sports, and more.
Google has also focused on making this model better at rendering text in the generated images. According to Google, Nano Banana Pro can create more detailed text in mockups or posters with a wider variety of textures, fonts, and calligraphy. Thanks to Gemini’s multilingual support, users can generate text in multiple languages within their images.
Consistency is another area where Nano Banana Pro excels. Google highlighted that users can blend up to 14 images while maintaining the consistency and resemblance of up to 5 people.
Finally, this new model offers advanced creative controls for creators. Users will be able to select, refine, and transform any part of an image with improved localized editing. It also supports adjusting camera angles, changing the focus, applying color grading, changing scene lighting, and more. Furthermore, users can create images in a wide range of aspect ratios and in 2K and 4K resolutions.
For developers, Gemini 3 Pro Image (Nano Banana Pro) will cost $0.134 per image for 1K/2K resolution with 1120 tokens and $0.24 per image for 4K resolution with 2000 tokens.
This new model is now rolling out to various Google products and services. For general consumers, it is rolling out globally to the Gemini app. Free users will receive limited generations per day, while Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers will receive more generations. Google AI Ultra subscribers in Flow will be able to enjoy this new model as well.
For NotebookLM, Nano Banana Pro is available for subscribers globally. This model is also available in AI Mode in Search in the US. Nano Banana Pro is coming to Google Ads, Google Slides, Vids, Gemini API, Google AI Studio, and the new Google Antigravity IDE.
