Google launches budget-friendly Pixel Buds 2a

Google has kicked off this year"s Made by Google hardware event and launched its latest pair of wireless earbuds alongside the freshly-baked Pixel 10 series. Pixel Buds 2a are the latest addition to Google"s portfolio, and the first model in the A-series to support Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)

The new wireless earbuds are powered by the audio-focused Tensor A1 chip, and needless to say, pack a platter of Google AI features to improve the listening experience and call quality. According to the search giant, Pixel Buds 2a come with a compact and lightweight design compared to their predecessors in the A-series.

The Pixel Buds 2a can deliver up to 10 hours of playback on a full charge without ANC, and seven hours when ANC is disabled. Its total battery backup can go up to 27 hours with the charging case. The wireless earbuds can deliver up to an hour of listening time after charging for five minutes.

The earbuds have a custom-designed 11mm dynamic speaker driver with support for transparency mode, ANC with Silent Seal 1.5, and active in-ear pressure relief. Taking a hint from last year"s Pixel Buds Pro 2, the new pair features a twist-to-adjust stabilizer and ships with four sets of ear tips. The pair comes with support for Bluetooth 5.4, Super Wideband, USB-C, ringtone speaker for Find Hub.

It offers a sweat and water resistance rating of IP54 and supports the Multipoint feature to connect with multiple devices at the same time. You can also locate the device on a map using Google"s Find Hub network.

Available in Iris and Hazel color options, the Pixel Buds 2a are now available for pre-order at $129. As previously rumored, the wireless earbuds will arrive on the market later this year, on October 9. It was believed that supply chain issues had prevented Google from shipping the devices earlier.

Google also shared some updates regarding the Pixel Buds Pro 2. It"s now shipping the flagship wireless earbuds in a new Moonstone color, and will push a software update next month packing features like Adaptive Audio, Loud Noise Protection, and Gemini Live.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 in the new color option are now available for pre-order at $229. They will arrive on the Google Store and retail partners on August 28.
