Google keeps on expanding its Meet video conferencing tool. In April of this year, the service was integrated into Gmail and its low-light video quality was also improved. It also added a tiled layout for up to 16 participants on a video call, noise cancellation, and more features for all G Suite customers.
Today, Google announced that it is rolling out Meet to Gmail on Android and iOS to let you join video conferences from your mobile device. That means you will see a new Meet tab in the Gmail app over the next few weeks. That tab will show a schedule of upcoming video conferences and you can tap on it to start or join a meeting. To initiate a meeting, you can tap on “New meeting” in the Meet tab. This option also provides a meeting link or the ability to schedule a meeting in Calendar. In addition, you can choose to join a meeting by entering a code shared with you.
Of course, you still have the freedom to hide the Meet tab in the Gmail app by heading over to the hamburger menu and tapping on your account. From there, you can uncheck the Meet option.
