Lumia 900 Tango update available for US and Canada

Owners of the Nokia Lumia 900 in the US and Canada have been waiting patiently for the promised Windows Phone "Tango" update. A few days ago, AT&T"s servers showed that the update was ready to go live.

Today, the official Nokia blog announced that the software updates are now available for both US and Canadian owners of the Lumia 900. If you have a PC, you can go ahead and download the update by connecting the smartphone to the PC and grab it via the Zune software. Mac owners can use the Windows Phone 7 connector software.

Nokia says there will be three separate downloads to complete the upgrade of the Lumia 900 and it could take about 30 minutes to complete the process, so be sure to get yourself a snack and drink while you are waiting.

US owners will be able to now use the "Flip-to-silence" feature, which turns off the Lumia 900"s ringer once you turn the phone over. It also has a number of battery and camera improvements. Canadian Lumia 900 owners will not only have the new "Flip-to-silence" feature, but will also adds support for the Contacts Share app, that allows business travelers to send and receive their business cards as text messages.
