Ray-Ban Meta glasses have become a surprise hit for Meta, and as per the latest sales data, they are the #1 selling AI glasses in the world. Today, Meta announced Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), the next generation of Ray-Ban Meta with improved battery life, new 3K video capture support, and more.
The new Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) glasses feature the same iconic design as their predecessor, but they include some key under-the-hood improvements. Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1) lasted up to 4 hours on a single charge. With these new Gen 2 glasses, users can enjoy up to eight hours on a single charge.
When the battery is fully drained, users can charge Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) up to 50% in just 20 minutes through fast charging. The charging case that comes as part of Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) will offer an additional 48 hours of battery life.
The Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) now supports 3K Ultra HD video capture, allowing users to record sharper videos with ultrawide HDR, up to 60 frames per second. The Gen 1 glasses supported only half the resolution when compared to the Gen 2. Later this year, Meta is planning to add hyperlapse and slow-motion recording features, allowing users to capture in even more fun ways.
Meta also announced several new software features that are coming soon to both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Conversation focus is a new feature that uses the glasses’ open-ear speakers to amplify the voice of the person users are talking to. The live translation feature now supports German and Portuguese. And soon, users can enjoy translations offline when they download a language pack in advance.
Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 will be available in different style and color combinations similar to its predecessor, including Wayfarer, Skyler, and Headliner. Ray-Ban Meta glasses (Gen 2) will be available starting at $379 USD in most countries where Ray-Ban Meta glasses are sold. Meta will bring these Gen 2 glasses to Mexico and India later this fall.
