Samsung could possibly unveil its first XR headset on this date

Based on a fresh report coming out of South Korea, Samsung is all set to officially launch its first-ever mixed-reality headset, dubbed Galaxy XR or more commonly as Project Moohan, next month. While previous speculations hinted at a September launch, the latest details reveal that the launch could happen on October 21.

Samsung has already given the world a glimpse of its Galaxy XR headset a couple of times. Popular tech YouTuber, Maaques Brownlee, aka MKBHD, also got to try out Samsung"s mixed-reality headset and spotted some interesting features, making it worth the wait.

According to ETNews (Google-translated to English from Korean), Samsung will seemingly unveil the Galaxy XR headset via an online event, which it does for many of its products. For the U.S., the event will take place on October 21, which will technically be October 22 in South Korea, based on its time zone.

Previous information about the Galaxy XR headset suggests that it will feature a sharper display compared to the Apple Vision Pro. Moreover, it will run Google"s new operating system meant for XR headsets called Android XR. The device is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm chipset, allegedly Qualcomm"s new XR2+ Gen 2 chip, built with Samsung"s 4nm process.

Shipments are expected to be capped at 100,000 units, which will be adjusted based on market demand. Corrective lenses will be sold separately, and the headset could be equipped with 16GB of RAM. With the launch of Galaxy XR, Samsung will expand its Galaxy ecosystem. The mixed-reality headset will join the phones, tablets, laptops, earbuds, Galaxy Ring, and smartwatches.

ETNews also reveals that Samsung"s first tri-folding phone, the Galaxy G Fold, could be revealed in a separate event. Moreover, the company could also launch the XR glasses "HAEAN," built in collaboration with Google, next year.
