Microsoft promotes Office 365 with WiFi hotspot inside print magazine

Microsoft has come up with some interesting ways to help promote Office 365. In Australia, the company gave away one year subscriptions to the cloud-based software service via a hunt for NFC tags found inside digital outdoor ads.

Now it"s been revealed that Microsoft is putting in real WiFi hardware hotspots inside some copies of the latest issue of Forbes magazine. The unique Office 365 promotion was revealed in a post on the Slickdeals.net message board. The WiFi router, when activated, offers 15 days of free WiFi service via T-Mobile"s network on up to five devices at once.

There"s no word on how many of these Forbes magazines have the WiFi router inside, but you can bet that this cost Microsoft a lot more than the normal rate for a Forbes magazine ad. Microsoft is trying to show the benefits of the cloud-based Office 365 with this out-of-the-box promotion, and this is one way to garner some positive press. In any case, if you get one of these Forbes magazine ads, keep in mind that the router still needs to be charged; it apparently lasts up to three hours on a single charge.
