Netflix app for iOS adds option to share movies and TV shows to Instagram Stories

Netflix"s influence on popular culture is undoubtedly growing, and almost everything that takes place in its movies will arguably hog the social media feed and memes, for better or worse. Banking on that popularity, Netflix is bringing a new feature to its iOS app which allows users to share their favorite title to Instagram Stories or send them directly to friends.

The move is an obvious attempt at further increasing awareness of its brand in online conversations. Netflix"s Instagram integration adds some sort of customization by letting you insert stickers and comments into the titles you"re sharing on top of the default Netflix art.

To get started, simply pick the movie or TV show you wish to post to Stories and you will then see the "Send To" button. Your Instagram contacts can then tap the title shared on the platform, which will bring them to the Netflix app where they can watch the content.

While the new capability is currently available on Netflix"s iOS app, the streaming service confirmed to Variety that it is planning to launch that feature to Android devices as well. Other platforms that take advantage of this Instagram integration include Apple"s Shazam and Spotify.
