Nintendo Labo gets new Vehicle Kit on September 14

Nintendo"s unique Labo concept, which blends cardboard toys called Toy-Con and video games on the Nintendo Switch, is set to expand later this year. The company has announced the new Vehicle Kit, which will allow players to explore the game"s world by driving cars, flying planes, and diving underwater with submarines.

The Vehicle Kit includes cardboard pieces to build a car, a submarine, a plane, a pedal, and two keys. To switch between vehicles on the fly in the game, players can simply remove the key from one of the creations and insert it into the other to see the new vehicle pop up on the screen. The two keys also allow for two players to partake in activities inside the game world.

Nintendo introduced Labo earlier this year with the Variety and Robot kits and the company recently updated Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to support the Toy-Con Motorbike, which is part of the Variety Kit. Given the nature of the kit announced today, it seems natural that the game will receive support for it too, but that remains to be seen.

Nintendo hasn"t specified how well the Labo concept is performing, but it did say earlier this month that it has seen "tremendous response" to the products. With today"s announcement, Nintendo will have more options on the table come the holiday season, which is when it expects more units to be sold. The Vehicle Kit will cost $69.99 when it launches on September 14.
