PlayStation 5 prices increased by up to $150, with Sony calling it a "necessary step"

The PlayStation 5 has gone through multiple price increases in its lifetime, but the US has only been hit by it once before. Today, Sony announced a price hike that will hit all markets, and it"s a pretty big one.

The standard disk edition PlayStation 5 is climbing to $650, while the Pro edition is reaching a whopping $900. Even the PlayStation Portal remote player is affected by the hikes too.

PlayStation 5 Pro $899.99 $749.99 $150

The PlayStation Portal remote player is going from being $200 to $250 with the latest changes.

Prior to all the price hikes, at launch in 2020, the PS5 disc drive edition came in at $500, while the digital edition cost $400. Meanwhile, when the Pro edition released in 2024, it came in at $700. The company added that the updated pricing and change dates will be announced for Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam at a later date.
