Microsoft is raising Xbox console prices for the second time in 2025

Microsoft is hiking Xbox console prices again, with the company saying the latest change is due to "macroeconomic environment" shifts happening in the United States.

Microsoft is making changes to its Xbox console pricing, which will be the second time that the company has adjusted the prices of its hardware offerings. Back in May, both Xbox consoles and accessories went through a price increase, raising them by up to $130. The latest change is yet another price hike. However, there's still some time before they come into effect.

The recommended retailer pricing of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles in the United States is being impacted by this change starting October 3. Microsoft said the hike is happening due to shifts in the "macroeconomic environment."

"Beginning on October 3, we will update the recommended retailer pricing for Series S and Series X consoles in the United States due to changes in the macroeconomic environment," explained the company.

The changes see the Xbox Series X prices going up by up to $70, while the Series S sees prices rising by up to $20. Combined with the previous hikes from earlier in the year, though, it's a drastic price change to these 2020-released consoles.

Here are the latest changes:

Product Original Price Old Price New Price
Xbox Series S 512 $299.99 $379.99 $399.99
Xbox Series S 1TB $349.99 $429.99 $449.99
Xbox Series X Digital $449.99 $549.99 $599.99
Xbox Series X $499.99 $599.99 $649.99
Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition $599.99 $729.99 $799.99

"We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration," continued the company. "Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and providing value for Xbox players."

However, unlike last time, prices for accessories like Xbox Wireless Controllers and headsets will remain unchanged. Regions outside of the U.S. are also unaffected by the latest price hikes.
