Razer launches Joy-Con-like Junglecat controller for phones

Razer has announced the Junglecat, a pair of controllers that"s meant to be used for gaming on a smartphone, though it can be used with PCs as well. The idea of split controllers for mobile devices isn"t new, and a similar approach is also used on the Nintendo Switch.

Just like other similar controllers, the idea with Junglecat is that it can help users play games more comfortably and without blocking screen visibility. One side of the set has an analog stick, a D-pad, a Select button, and two shoulder buttons, while the other has a second analog stick, the ABXY button array, the Start button, and two more shoulder buttons.

The controllers come with three phone cases that let the controllers be attached to the sides of the phone to play in handheld mode. However, they also come with a grip, similar to the Joy-Con grip for the Switch, which lets users play with their phone set down on a table, or even connected to an external display. The included cases support the Razer Phone 2, the Samsung Galaxy S10+, and the Galaxy Note9 in the U.S. In the rest of the world, the Note9 case is replaced with one for the Huawei P30 Pro.

The controllers can be charged via USB Type-C, and Razer says the battery should last up to 100 hours before you have to charge them again. They connect via Bluetooth, so there"s nothing stopping you from using them with a PC, but they won"t work with an iPhone. Through the Razer GamePad app, you can also adjust sensitivity for the thumbsticks, as well as configure other settings.

The Razer Junglecat is available today for $99.99.
