Retro shooter Pulstar arrives on the Xbox One

Hamster Corporation has made a name for itself by taking older retro games from the Neo Geo and releasing it for modern consoles like the Switch and Xbox One. This week, the firm has announced the release of Pulstar.

Pulstar is a side-scrolling deep space shooter that offers a similar experience to another popular space shooting franchise, R-Type. If you have never played either, the premise of the game has you piloting a spaceship through a channel that is infested with a variety of different kinds of enemies.

Although you start off with a basic ship, you can slowly upgrade your vessel by destroying enemies and collecting power-ups. The game was originally released in 1995 and was featured in the arcades, and also made an appearance on the Neo Geo home consoles.

If Pulstar isn"t to your liking, you can also have some fun with fighting games such as Fatal Fury 2 and World Heroes 2, or dabble in some classic shooter like Metal Slug and NAM-1975.
