Ring unveils first 4K cameras and AI features to help reunite lost pets

Amazon’s Ring has announced its latest lineup, introducing a series of 2K and 4K cameras and doorbells designed to elevate home security and now, even help reunite lost pets with their owners. At the heart of the new lineup is Ring Retinal 4K, powering devices such as the Wired Doorbell Pro, Spotlight Cam Pro, Floodlight Cam Pro, and Outdoor Cam Pro. For users preferring Power over Ethernet (PoE), Ring is also launching the Spotlight Cam Pro POE, Outdoor Cam Pro POE, and Wired Doorbell Elite.

Ring"s Retinal Vision technology is said to optimise the imaging process using advanced AI tuning, delivering sharper, more detailed footage. With 10x zoom and enhanced low-light performance, these 4K devices can reportedly capture fine details even in difficult conditions.

With new AI-driven functionalities, Alexa+ Greetings seeks to transform your Ring device into a "smart doorbell attendant," managing interactions with solicitors, deliveries, and visitors, while keeping you informed in real time. Meanwhile, Familiar Faces adds personalised context to notifications and recorded events, recognising routine visitors and reducing unnecessary alerts.

Ring has also introduced Search Party, an AI-powered feature initially focused on lost dogs. When a neighbour reports a missing dog in the Ring Neighbors app, nearby outdoor Ring cameras can help spot the pet. Users receive alerts with potential matches and can choose whether to share the information, maintaining control over privacy.

For those seeking indoor monitoring, Ring’s Retinal 2K powers the new Indoor Cam Plus and Wired Doorbell Plus, delivering sharper, more detailed video.

Ring’s new devices are available for pre-order today, with the Wired Doorbell Pro priced at $249.99 and the Wired Doorbell Plus at $179.99. The Outdoor Cam Pro starts at $199.99, with the PoE version available for $299.98, while the Spotlight Cam Pro is $249.99, rising to $349.98 for the PoE variant. The Floodlight Cam Pro retails at $279.99, the Indoor Cam Plus at $59.99, and the Wired Doorbell Elite is available for $499.99.

Search Party for dogs rolls out in November, with cats and other pets to follow. Alexa+ Greetings and Familiar Faces are expected to become available in December.
