Rumor: Crysis could be re-released on console

It would appear that the original Crysis could be making its way to both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, if information posted by the ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) on their own website rings true. Receiving a "Mature" age rating due to a combination of blood, strong language, and violence, the 2007 game, once a PC exclusive, notoriously demanded very high system specs to run smoothly at its highest levels.

Even at present, the game is often listed as possessing some of the best graphics on any platform, despite being four years old. Crysis 2 was released on both the PC and home consoles, though it attracted some negative reviews from PC gamers who felt it had been toned down both in graphics and gameplay in order to play smoothly on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

If Crysis releases on consoles, it will serve as a prequel to the events of Crysis 2, though the events of Crysis: Warhead will remain untold for console gamers. It is definite that the game will be reduced in its graphical demands in order to run smoothly on both consoles, due to their much lower specifications. It is also possible that some areas of the story may be altered or cut entirely in order to ensure that the game runs from the smallest number of discs possible, or to prevent other issues from arising.
