If you are after high capacity storage and don"t mind lower than SSD speeds, then Seagate has its BarraCuda 24TB HDD for a price that is hard to, if not impossible, beat. The SKU is now selling for just $250 (purchase link at the bottom of the article) which means it costs around just around $10.5 per TB. However, we are not sure how long the sale or the stocks will last.
Being a 24TB variant, this BarraCuda drive is based on CMR or Conventional Magnetic Recording technology which is typically great for robust use cases like on NAS or (media) home servers and similar such scenarios. While it may not be made for 24x7 operations like a IronWolf Pro or an Exos, the BarraCuda should still be great for occasional long up-times, and especially good for back-ups.
The drive"s power-on hours is rated at 2400 and it packs 512 MB multi-segmented DRAM cache. In terms of data transfer speed, Seagate promises up to 190 MB/s for the BarraCuda 20TB and it is the maximum sustained data transfer rate for the drive.
