Senua's Saga: Hellblade II to focus on questions around religion and society

Senua"s Saga: Hellblade II is an upcoming third-person action game from Ninja Theory, the team behind the original and games like DmC: Devil May Cry and Bleeding Edge. Senua"s Saga: Hellblade II is using a lot of revolutionary techniques to make it as close to reality as possible. This includes scanning costumes and having Melina Juergens – who plays Senua – learn combat.

In an interview between NME and Ninja Theory"s co-founder Tameem Antoniades, new details about the project emerged. There"s a heavy focus on "capturing reality". Antoniades said the following to the outlet.

The goal with Hellblade 2 isn"t to perfect it, but to create an experience that feels more believable and more refined. Its ambition in terms of scale is bigger. I think Hellblade 2 will make Hellblade look like an indie game ... The idea is believability – making things look real or believable – and the best way to do that is to base everything on real things.

The original Hellblade was an "AA" game, so the statement is a little confusing. However, what Antoniades means is that Senua"s Saga: Hellblade II will be larger in scope and have much better visuals.

The first title focused on Senua"s personal journey, but this game will address how religion plays a role in society. It"ll be interesting to see where the journey takes Senua this time around.
