TCL unveils the NxtWear G wearable display along with a smartwatch for kids and more

TCL today announced a bunch of wearable devices and a new service that allows multi-screen collaboration. The headline reveal is, of course, the NxtWear G wearable display that was teased by the company earlier this year at CES.

The NxtWear G functions as an external display that you can connect to your mobile device or laptop through a USB-C display-out port to watch content on a 16:9 screen. The experience feels like viewing content on a 140-inch display, with stereo speakers that are built into the frames. There"s no need for an app and the device is non-rechargeable as it gets its juice from a compatible laptop, tablet or smartphone when plugged in.

It includes a pair of glasses with dual 1080p high-definition Sony FHD Micro OLED panels. It"s worth noting that the device isn"t a VR or AR headset, although it supports 3D content. Inside the box are three adjustable nose pad sizes and a lens adapter to watch content clearly regardless of your prescription. TCL will release the NxtWear G in Australia next month, with availability in more countries scheduled in the future.

TCL also introduced Multi-Screen Collaboration, a screen-sharing capability for its smartphones. Initially, it will be compatible with the TCL 20 Pro 5G, allowing you to wirelessly edit and share files, photos, and messages with a compatible PC. You can even share media files from your compatible phone to a TCL TV.

In addition, the company unveiled a new smartwatch for kids called Movetime Family Watch 2. It sports a 1.54-inch screen along with voice and video calling functionalities. It also lets parents track their kids in real time. With safe zone geofencing, parents will receive alerts when their children move beyond a designated area. The smartwatch will be available across Europe in August starting at €149.
