The wired Xbox One controller for Windows is finally here

Microsoft announced a slew of new hardware accessories today, but the standout by far is the wired Xbox One controller for Windows, launching in November for $59.95.

Although the controller can also be used on the Xbox One for gaming, Microsoft is marketing it as a peripheral for Windows and PC gaming. Many PC games support console controllers as a control method, and the upcoming wired Xbox controller will be the first controller from the latest console generation to work for PC gaming.

Using the controller on Windows will require a Pentium 300 MHz or higher processor, 128MB of RAM, and 150MB of hard disk space, as well as a Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS, which means that the final few Windows XP users will be stuck with a regular old keyboard and mouse.

In the same announcement, Microsoft also unveiled several other peripherals, including a Universal Mobile keyboard (which works with iOS and Android), and two wireless mice coming later this month.
