The Epic Games Store"s freebie offer has just refreshed for the third time this month, and that means a brand-new game is available for all PC gamers to grab for free. To replace last week"s Nobody Wants to Die and The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark double freebie drop, a copy of Return to Ash has now landed. There"s a goodie pack for a free-to-play game available to grab too. As usual, you have seven days to add the title permanently to your Epic Games Store library.
Return to Ash lands from developer Serenity Forge as its latest visual novel experience. The story focuses on Ashleigh, a woman that "wakes up" in the afterlife after battling a terminal illness. There are other individuals stuck in this same realm, who players can build relationships with while also dealing with "death" itself
"The hospital room she knew is gone. Beyond the window lies a blank, white void that stretches endlessly. Instead of the usual aches and pains, she awakens feeling better than she has in years. Is this a dream, or…," writes the studio, describing the setting. "Explore a mysterious afterlife, forge bonds with others trapped in this strange purgatory, and face impossible, torturous trials from a masked being who calls themself “Death”."
The game is described as being only 2-4 hours long, but there are multiple endings players can achieve depending on the player"s choices with other characters. The studio has previously worked with a number of high-profile developers for releases such as To the Moon, LISA - Definitive Edition, and even Doki Doki Literature Club Plus.
At the same time, Epic is offering a premium pack for the free-to-play game Stalcraft. The title is described as an MMOFPS set in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, where players run into both PvE and PvP battles in their adventures. The starter pack that"s available to claim this week comes with seven days of premium, a full kit of weapons and armor, cosmetic items, consumables, and other goodies. Keep in mind that the pack is only available for the Epic Games Store version of Stalcraft.
The Return to Ash giveaway is now live on the Epic Games Store. PC gamers can add the title to their library for no cost during the seven-day timeframe before the next freebie arrives on February 26.
