School Punishes Boy for Opposing Homosexuality

Recommended Posts

An honors student in Fort Worth, TX, was sent to the principal?s office and punished for telling a classmate that he believes homosexuality is wrong.

Holly Pope said she was ?absolutely stunned? when she received a telephone call from an assistant principal at Western Hills High School informing her that her son, Dakota Ary, had been sent to in-school suspension.

?Dakota is a very well-grounded 14-year-old,? she told Fox News Radio noting that her son is an honors student. ?He?s been in church his whole life and he?s been taught to stand up for what he believes.?

And that?s what got him in trouble.

Dakota was in a German class at the high school when the conversation shifted to religion and homosexuality in Germany. At some point during the conversation, he turned to a friend and said that he was a Christian and ?being a homosexual is wrong.?

?It wasn?t directed to anyone except my friend who was sitting behind me,? Dakota told Fox. ?I guess [the teacher] heard me. He started yelling. He told me he was going to write me an infraction and send me to the office.?

Dakota was sentenced to one day in-school suspension ? and two days of full suspension. His mother was flabbergasted, noting that her son had a spotless record, was an honor student, volunteered at his church and played on the school football team.

Well would this be such a hot issue had the subject not been about gays? I agree that this should not have been discussed in a school setting and the teen should not have been subjected to punishment because he exercised his right to free speech, but I suspect that he knew that a comment such as that would provoke the teacher and or whom ever he was speaking with, and that was the reason for his statement.

He?s been in church his whole life and he?s been taught to stand up for what he believes.

I suggest you read the entire article. The suspension was dropped. Why cr@p like this makes the news is beyond me. Everyone makes a poor judgment call and things are (usually) set straightened out in the end...such as this case. So, why is this even news?

Well to fare it was fox news so it really was not news news! :D

I don't get this. Government wants people to bear more and more babies, and because government wants even more people than women want to deliver they import millions of immigrants. On the other side they spend billions encouraging homosexuality. What's the point? Look at Germany - they have overwhelming levels of homosexuality and that's why Germans have basically no children at all, Turks now make children for them. Is it what the government really wants?

Yeah, and I don't like anyone that lectures me who should I like or not like.

Maybe you'd like a non-Fox source ... that says the same thing:

Jesus **********ing christ, either my sarcasm meter is way off or you're really really ignorant (to put it mildly).

I wish you could understand how stupid that post was but you probably never will. How do you even turn on your computer?

They should have made him kiss another boy. Kidding!

That was a little harsh to punish someone for their opinions and views. The boy is also 14, he doesn't know any better, especially being a Christian, who are taught to believe being gay is wrong.

Times have changed I guess, and religion is the new war.

This is the greatest post I have ever read in my entirety of browsing these forums.

I don't know whether your joking or not but thanks heaps for the laugh either way

On the other side they spend billions encouraging homosexuality.

Hollywood does that and profits from it!

As for the government, it fights discrimination on illegal grounds (homophobia is just part of it) and promotes equal opportunities for everyone - they don't promote homosexuality per se.

He should be expelled. What if he leaned over to his friend and said "Being Black is wrong!"?

Expelling someone over an opinion is retarded. Also thats not the best example to use. While its still debated on whether or not someone is born gay is natural or not, being born any color is clearly not a choice.

Krause called the incident ?mind blowing? and said the teacher had frequently brought homosexuality into ninth grade classroom discussions.

?There has been a history with this teacher in the class regarding homosexual topics,? Krause said. ?The teacher had posted a picture of two men kissing on a wall that offended some of the students.?

Krause said the picture was posted on the teacher?s ?world wall.?

?He told the students this is happening all over the world and you need to accept the fact that homosexuality is just part of our culture now,? Krause said.

The school district would not comment on why a teacher was discussing homosexuality in a ninth grade German class.

?In German class there should be no talk of being pro-Gay or homosexual topics,? Krause said.

Dakota?s mother said she believes the teacher should apologize.

?He should never have been punished,? Pope said. ?He didn?t disrupt the class. He wasn?t threatening. He wasn?t hostile. He made a comment to his friend and the teacher overheard it.?

It sounds like the teacher has issues and promotes an agenda which isn't part of the job.

He should be expelled. What if he leaned over to his friend and said "Being Black is wrong!"?

People are born with their skin color, but nobody is born with a particular sexuality. Therefore it would be illogical to say "being black is wrong", while "being gay is wrong" is a perfectly logical statement (and also understandable when you've been brainwashed by your religion for your whole life).

Anyway, why do you feel the need to say "what if he said X"?

What if he said "I hate people who see what I said and say 'what if he said this'"?

What if he said "I hate people who Capitalize words which aren't meant to Be capitalized in mid Sentence"?

Society conditioning children to have no independent thought.

The kid's comment that "homosexuality is wrong" wasn't given to him by society,

it was given to him by religion. Blame religion for the hate-mongering and

conditioning.

    • For a guy who claims to hate Farage and the ignorant, gullible, rightwing racist skinheads sponsored by Putin that his lies represent, you sure are quoting them time and time and time again, mate. I guess you're conveniently ignoring the fact that your country and commonwealth just happened to work much better when it was still part of the E.U.? Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.
    • Do you live in the U.K? Do any of the people here that are against the UK leaving the E.U, live in the U.K? If not then why are you bothered? If you do live here then it is a different thing . Brexit was a good idea, should have done it years before, it was done badly, but the idea was good. You are saying the same thing as remainers do, oh we did what Putin wanted, we listened to the lies and Farage. I hate Farage and never believed most of what he said, certainly did not believe the £350m a week for the NHS. But we did pay a lot of money to the E.U and yes some of it came back, but what is the point of paying it out for only some of it to come back? Get out of the E.U, no money to them and in theory we can use the money to do things in the country. I said in theory, but our governments are a total and complete waste of space. No matter what colour rosette they wear. You and others say it was a mistake and yet the two main parties in the U.K are not looking at rejoining the EU, I wonder why that is? I was not tricked by anyone. Makes no odds now, we are out and have been for 10 years, what we need is a decent government to run the country. All they do is shout at each other like a load of kids and seems to do nothing and make this country more into a police and nanny state. Getting more like China all the time.

    • Yeah... The root of my comment, ostensibly, is how to spin the story via the actual technical merits of the solution! * Decentralized (aka federated) solution with built-in encrypted ephemeral message transport, * Transport via Relays (intermediary servers) with no message archival, * Second configurable pathway are actual email servers (if DNS records are programmed accordingly) via IMAP protocols carriage, * "Chat-over-Email" is the design pattern adopted; it can either leverage full-blown Email Server (must use the INBOX folder) to exchange all received messages/edits/reactions (so be weary of notifications overloads) [best practice is creating a separate email acct used explicitly for federated chat purposes!] or leverage its built-in Relay Server mechanism which actually resides on-device (by default but can be configured otherwise), * By virtue of be a decentralized/federated model, all other intermediary servers who may pass-along messages (while the recipient's final relay/device is inaccessible) cannot snoop on the messages due to the encrypted nature of contents. The intermediaries may, however, analyze the metadata due to the simple fact that routing mechanisms require hints for relay destinations. Unfortunately, whomever is posting about DeltaChat across socials are misleading with "zero metadata" claims -- especially when the Relays (according to their own technical documents) mandate the addition of chat-version metadata and other decorations in order to actually transport any message. -- Based on this summary, I'd prefer if they'd better dual-path message transport (email server add-in, federated relay engine) rather than patch-on email protocols to existing federated social media frameworks. They're frankensteining something rather than extending widely-deployed technology stacks.
