Hopefully they remove the "Turn off UAC" option ut instead set it up as in Windows 7 Milestone 3. BTW were still missing Ultimate Extras...Tinker and the sounds won't cut it. Put some new visual styles at least. Oops I'm going off topic now. I see no need for an SP2 yet let alone they announce XP SP4 with it.

SP2 is what made XP a good OS, hopefully it improves UAC a bit. I've only recently switched to Vista (after some 10 or so attempts every few months) when I was satisfied enough with the system itself and driver availability/stability/maturity and it's working quite okay now. XP still has better performance, but the difference is not as large as it used to be and is down to acceptable levels of a newer OS now.

Looking forward to it.

Please no. While I love UAC, I still disable it on a fresh install while I install all my apps, then re-enable it.

I could have sworn someone posted about this article lastnight and got a slap in the face by members telling them it was just an article meaning nothing. How fickle neowin can be nowadays.

Was practically thinkin the same thing....

Its not like the article says BETA will be out in x amount of days.

This is a surprise. I mean, Vista is working so flawlessly for me I can't imagine why 'SP2' is needed.

SP's are really just to make it easier for IT support/System Installers to deploy new machines without having to install 1000's of updates. It's also handy as it includes the hotfix's that MS don't release publicly, rather you have to call them for access to them.

If you ask me, It's something that MS should do yearly anyway, It got really stupid towards the end of SP2 on XP, you'd have well over 150 updates to install on a fresh SP2 machine.

If only it was as simple to slipstream a service pack into Windows Vista as it was in Windows XP.

SP2 is what made XP a good OS

People always say that but I used XP Since RC2 and I found XP to be a great OS even before Sp1 and certainly after Sp1 but to me Sp2 made XP no better than it already was at the time.

    • Ridiculous claim that the labor cost difference of $6000 annually would increase cost per phone by $200. The employees produce 3 phones per month or what?
