Windows Vista SP2 is coming...

I wrote in another thread:

Difference with Windows is that the flaws usually won't get fixed or if they'll do, it happens in the next version of Windows which you'll have to pay for.

now that seems pretty appropriate.

And in Mac OS X, for example, flaws usually won't get fixed ever, since the OS is bulletproof and perfect.

Nah, they just want you to think that its bulletproof. ;) And in Leopard's case, it made it even less secure; even MS didn't do that. :p :D lol

Of course, I was being sarcastic. It's just that, once again, people like to bash Windows for its supposed insecurities when they fail to realize that all other OS have major issues, as well.

Why did you drag OS X into this? Can't we stay on topic?

EDIT:

supposed insecurities

I heard that owners of those other OSs have major malware problems.

Mainly because they have a larger user base, not necessarily because the OS lacks security.

Vista still has bugs.

just the other day I was trying to browse to from my vista ultimate latptop to an XP desktop and instead of getting prompted to enter password to access shares it rebooted the XP machine. WTF !!! lol

crapdows.

I think its pointless with 7 coming mid 2009.. well thats if all goes to plan

Indeed "the plan". I think you can opt more or less for holiday season 2009/2010.

But what's wrong with another SP?

I think this will be a good idea, though SP1 has also been an improment compared to Vista RTM.

This is getting annoying, someone who knows about what happened to WinFS etc should make a topic about it and sticky it somewhere, I'm getting tired of WinFS being mentioned whenever Windows 7 or Vista topics pop up, it's dead.

O my gawd calm the flip down. Must I put "jk" on it so you can calm down?

This is a surprise. I mean, Vista is working so flawlessly for me I can't imagine why 'SP2' is needed.

It's not really, it's no different to XP SP3, it will just be all the post-SP1 updates rolled up into one package nothing special. Vista is done and dusted, MS's main focus is 7 and SP2 will just be to tidy things up on the Vista front. That is what I understand the situation to be anyway, so take with a grain of salt.

EDIT: To the people who seem to think Vista SP2 is going to be like XP SP2, it's not. Vista SP2 will not be adding new features, it is purely going to be a roll up of all the post-SP1 updates, nothing more. XP SP2 was a once off, never to happen again. If you want new features, buy Win 7 when it releases in a year or so.

    • I totally disagree. Very little good comes out of governments all around the world manipulating everything they can and usually the people are not the benefactors. What you say about being restricted and expensive sounds almost like the arguments against firearms and why banning them will protect people as if making something illegal somehow will prevent the criminals from having and using them. AI being far less mainstream could simply mean the average person will not benefit, but "big brother" and the corporations will benefit, which is almost for sure NOT a good thing.

    • "connect with audiences" is the most obvious corporate speak you can think of. I only bought Need for Speed from EA because it was the only racing game with cops in existence and I dig that. Now that they killed off NFS franchise, I have nothing to spend money on. EA is officially dead for me, just like Ubisoft which I've been boycotting for some 20 years now...
