Problems & limitations inherent in the Windows 10 TP Feedback app

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I started a thread on the Microsoft Answers Community in the Windows Insider subforum back in October of last year regarding the massive problems and limitations inherent in the Feedback app. Since that time I've been compiling a list of problems, bugs, inefficiencies and limitations presented by the app being coded in XAML.

I've decided to update my OP in that original thread to list all the problems. You can find it here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_apps-insider_feedback/windows-feedback-apptool-is-broken-hilariously-bad/3f8b7423-4a80-476d-87f2-20de85639815?page=1&tm=1424770635541

I believe attention should be drawn to this as the feedback we can provide to Microsoft is only as good as the means in which they receive it and are presented it.

If anyone is interested in collaborating with me on this, I have a OneNote document where we can update the list. Otherwise, feel free to comment here with anything you believe is missing or should be added to my list.

I would have set this list up on Windows Uservoice, but once a post has been made there it is unable to be edited at a later date, making the maintenance of such a list impossible.

Last of all, please "me too" the thread :)

Once it has received sufficient traffic I will be sure to tweet it at Gabe Aul as he has been most approachable and communicative on Twitter.

I think you're a bit confused saying the issues you've documented are because the app is coded in XAML instead of Win32. Has absolutely nothing to do with.

Overall just a poorly coded application.

All Windows Store XAML apps (seemingly) require a splash screen (why?) that seem to serve no purpose on the desktop: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/xaml/hh465338.aspx

I'm not a full fledged developer/programmer, no, I'm more a design guy. I'm the first to admit I'm confused. Attempting to understand the differences between Windows Runtime/WPF/WinForms/XAML is a confusing mess.

By XAML I'm more referring to it being a "Universal app".

Indeed, it is. And given it is our direct link with the Windows team it is imperative the app allows us to convey bugs/problems and ideas as clearly as possible. It's a mess and I want to bring as much attention to it as possible, before it's too late. We only have 4-5 months if rumours are to believed concerning its RTM.

Damn, no one cares, eh?

I do care. I've just given you a 'me too' on the Microsoft forum.

I hope to be able to be more proactive in the community as soon as I get over some health related issues I'm coping with at the moment.
