Firefox 1.5RC1 test builds

From Asa Dotzler's blog:

zarro boogs 'n 1.5 rc1 just around the corner

Today we bounced off of zarro boogs for the Firefox 1.5 release candidate. If all goes well, the builds we created last night will be the builds we ship as RC1 sometime early next week (I think we're looking at Wednesday.)

Unless we find stop-ship problems in the feedback from the release candidate, these builds will become Firefox 1.5 -- though I can't think of a time when the widespread testing we get in a release candidate did not turn up new issues. The point is that we're down to no known blockers and that means it's time to package up the builds, get the localizations all signed off on, make one final QA sweep, and ship this thing.

If you find bugs that should block the release of Firefox 1.5, please let us know by reporting the bug, nominating it with the blocking1.8rc1? flag, and letting me know here in the comments.

You can find our test builds here:

Win1.5 RC1 test

Mac 1.5 RC1 test

Lin 1.5 RC1 test

the final is not coming out in a couple of days, thats the Firefox 1.5 release candidate and just that. Firefox 1.5 release candidate should be release Nov 1. and if no major problems are found in this release candidate then these builds will become Firefox 1.5 final. and ff 1.5 final should be release around nov 9, the same date as last years release date for firefox 1.0 if all goes well. the ones posted at asa dotzler blog are just testing one's to be the release candidate.

Wouldn't the build from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/fir...2.installer.exe

be a bit newer, I am not sure how their dev process works, I just usually find the one with the latest date on it.

EDIT: I see lots of you guys say Firefox is much faster, well, it seems to be, but do you ever notice sometimes firefox seems to hang when initially loading a site. It will sit there for a while before teh site actually begins to load? I find that to be the most annoying thing about firefox, other than that I love it. I hate waiting for something to load, it seems in IE pages load right when you press enter, firefox can take time, but it doesnt' always which is weird!

I encounter this, too. it is quite annoying. i've tried explaining it to the guys over at mozilla, but I think my complaints always go under the radar.

November 1st the 1.5 RC1 final will be out.

I believe 1.5 final will be out in the next month or two.

no if all goes well with the 1.5 rc1 on nov 1 and no major problems are found, ff 1.5 final is supposely to be release around nov 9

    • low latency mode is still bugged and causing bootup times slow to a crawl. To fix, you have to disable the feature with vivetool. Seems as though it's not rolled out to a lot of people yet since I've only been able to find only a handful of people that are having issues.
    • I would recommend the Nothing 2a. The battery life is awesome, 2 or 3 days without going into battery power mode. The only thing that I've been looking into recently is that it doesn't "support" Graphene OS. I'm pretty sure there is a way, I just need to do some more looking.
    • You'd have to show me an example of a listing that says Gen 1, usually i'd expect that to mean Snapdragon Gen 1 (a type of chipset, which the Pixels don't use). Pixel 7 - White - 128gb - Unlocked - 85%+ battery - Grade B+ - $159 with free delivery - https://www.ebay.com/itm/398046617206 Pixel 7 - Obsidian - 128gb - Unlocked - 80%+ battery - Very Good - $157 with free delivery - https://www.ebay.com/itm/355617734563 Both look to be sold by companies with good feedback, dealing with refurbished phones and state the phones are unlocked with a clean IMEI. Obviously I can't vouch for either company though, but the listings look good in my opinion.
    • Because Chrome is doing it. And no one said anyone had to update immediately. That's silly. They could update every day for all I care as long as it's fast, and the next time the browser restarts, you're good. And the basic point is not to tee it up for bigger updates. As it is right now, all the windows I had open reopen anyway except inprivate.
    • Why? Does anybody actually want this? The constant need to close all browser sessions and wait for a new version to install, just so that there’s a integrated coupon manager feels like a waste of everyone’s time
