Miranda IM - Skins & Icons

Recommended Posts

Download Miranda IM 0.4.0.3 (Note: Do not use Miranda IM version 0.5 or later).

Download this zip file. Extract the files from the zip archive. You'll get some zip files again. Extract clistmodernb, fingerprint, icolib & imgdecoder. Place the extracted files into your Miranda IM plugins folder (C:\Program Files\Miranda IM\plugins\).

Now extract xpkaqua & xpkicons. Place the extrated folders "skins" and "icons" into your Miranda IM root folder (C:\Program Files\Miranda IM\).

Open Miranda IM now and go to "Options -> Plugins". Set up your plugins like this:

The most important things to do is to dissable clist_classic.dll and enable clist_modern.dll.

Also it's important to enable icolib.dll and fingerprint.dll.

Now click "Apply" then OK and then restart Miranda IM.

Go to "Options -> Skins (Under "Customize"). Select xpk Pixel Perfect Aqua and click "Apply".

If there are no skins on the list, click "Browse" and look for the xpk.msf file in your Miranda IM's "skins" folder (C:\Program Files\Miranda IM\skins\xpk_pixelperfect\).

Now the icons. Go to "Icons" (Under "Contact List"). Select a category and click "Load icon set..." and search for a appropriate icon library (*.dll file) in your Miranda IM's "icon" filder (C:\Program Files\Miranda IM\Icons\xpk).

If the category is "Main Icons", the corresponding icon library would be xpk_main.dll. If the category's name is "ICQ Icons" the corresponding icon library is xpk_icq.dll and so on ...

Click "Apply" then "OK" and restart Miranda IM.

By now your Miranda IM should look somewhat like this:

Enjoy !

works good here, except miranda would not connect to aim or msn for me.

also i downloaded Miranda IM 0.4.0.3 Build 45 Alpha from here because the main site is just way too slow!

http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Miranda_IM/957048618/1

with that version it claimed i had a newer version of clist_modern.dll already in the folder, i did not overwrite it. prob had something to do with the connection problem.

maybe i will play with it again. but i really prefer portable gaim 2.0 beta 1! Thanks though :)

the icon changes when you load the proper icon sets :D

very useful guide, at last i've a skinned miranda, i tried a lot of guides, maybe they let you more customize it yourself, but you've to start simple right.. but at least this works without all the error messages..

and when i want to use it on my other computer, i can just copy the folder right? so i can also put it on my usbdisk or something

    • Well I've done a grand total of nothing, and it now clocks between 2010mhz and 1995mhz (stock is 1710mhz) and hovers around 80c, warmer than it used to, but tolerable clocks seem to have returned. Thanks for all the advice on this thread. Will review the evidence and make a choice.

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
