I've just bought a 400D today and don't have much money to play with at the moment. However, I know someone that is selling a Tamron AF 28-200mm Super, F/3.8-5.6 LD Aspherical for ?50 or ~$100.

Would this make for a good lens considering that I am on a tight budget at the moment and bought the 400D with the kit lens? I don't shoot anything specific like only sports or only landscapes. If it's a good deal for the lens though then I am tempted to go for it but if that is the usual price for them to go for on ebay then I can wait. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks. It doesn't seem like that bad a price then, the cheapest one that is in stock is $184, the other cheaper ones go to broken pages. Plus it's the US, the item is in the UK and the UK google shows nothing in it's products page. http://www.google.co.uk/products?hl=en&amp...l&scoring=p

Well, to be honest... I don't know anything about the lens, but from my personal experience with a Sigma 28-105mm on a digital body, I found the 28mm not wide enough (and the tele not tele enough, but 200mm is fine)

If the image quality is really that good I'd buy it - I'm a nikonian, so I'm not that familiar with the quality of the kitlenses.

For me though, the wide end wouldn't fit me...

I'll have the 18-55mm Lens Kit that came with the 400D. Whilst I know that isn't ideal, I could switch back to it. I was just wondering if it was worth snapping up the Tamron for a little extra zoom. If it's just an okay deal then I'll wait as I've spent enough today as it is.

I wouldn't get it. If you're on a tight budget, pick up the 18-55 IS.

Thanks, I think I'll give it a miss for now then.

Cheers for the replies everyone. :)
