That is from Dragon Ball not Dragon Ball Z, also i remember reading that part in the books however, never watched the Dragon Ball Series. just read them. I was in stitches after reading it lol.

Indeed there is a difference. There is Dragonball, Dragonball Z, Dragonball GT with each taking place later in their lives.

To clarify for everyone here:

this was a (short) running gag early on in the series where Son Goku (the main character), due to literally being raised by his adopted grandfather in a remote mountain range, wasn't aware that there was more than one sex, and had difficulty understanding that they didn't have same physical characteristics (if you know what I mean).
