Hello Neowin,
I was wondering if anyone could do something easy for me. Recently my Immersive IE dissapeared, and browsing thru Microsoft's forum I found http://social.msdn.m...8-a5af13eddf1b. Would it be possible for anyone to zip up the Internet Explorer shortcut in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and check if there's also one in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories (which would need to be copied/zipped also)? If you could just do that for me, it would be a huge help. Also, it would probably work best if you were on 64 bit, but I don't think it should matter.
Thanks a million,
Matthew

It appears this issue can be fixed by uninstalling and re installing Firefox.

As I stated, it was incorrect to assume that simply getting a second copy of a shortcut would fix this issue. A while ago I was helped on a Microsoft forum and it turns out Firefox somehow caused the problem. By uninstalling Firefox, disabling IE, restarting, and finally re-enabling IE, this problem can be fixed. I was merely updating this thread to allow anyone with the same problem in the future the instructions on how to fix this.

Metro IE only disappears if you set an alternate Desktop Browser as default i.e Chrome/Firefox. If you re-set IE10 Desktop as your default Browser, the immersive version will start working again from the start screen tile.
