Hamilton's pole might be under threat.

Stewards are investigating whether his car was under fuelled for the final leg of the qualification. When he pulled off the track he had only 1.3 L of fuel left.Had he gone till the pits, he'd not have been able to provide the 1 L of fuel necessary for a sample.

Hamilton himself might have done nothing wrong, yet F1 is the driver and the car. Since refuelling is completely under the control of the team, the penalty is justified.

As for 10th or last, I guess the penalty clause strips the driver of his Qualifying sessins completely, hence 24th.

After the torrid time Williams had last year, they must be pleased as punch to be back on pole. Alonso on 2nd..Massa on 16th (After Hamilton's downgrade). The performance can't be THAT bad..

Expecting a good start to the race tomorrow, Schumacher to make up a few. And with all due respect and consideration towards drivers' safety, maybe a bit of a pile up?

It sucks for Hamilton but the stewards have to send a message for this kind of thing. ?100,000 per weekend is nothing if a team could do it all year and end up winning the constructors championship. The rules are clear and you don't want teams trying to bend them to their advantage. At least this way, everyone knows where they stand.

This has happened before, they got a fine. They should have gotten a greater fine not penalising the driver for something he has no control over.

The thing is that nowadays F1 is a team "sport". Therefore if there is a slip up like this, the team should be penalised.

What a joke.

Why is it whenever Hamiltons concerned he gets the most severe punishments, Rosberg barges people off the track and no one says jack ****.

The engineers under fueled the car, punish the team not the driver.

Not to mention the four or five cars that all pulled off straight after the finish line in Bahrain. From something I read earlier, the rule applies to both qualifying and the race so... if true then it says a lot about FIA consistency.

Hamilton needs to leave McLaren IMHO. Number of mistakes they have made recently is unbelievable.

Hopefully we'll have a good race tomorrow. Wouldn't mind seeing one of the Lotus' get the win. Nor would I the Williams, except for Maldonado driving it.

I expect one of the Lotus to win the race. Then again with the grid mixed up as it is and cars being as closely matched as they are this season anything is possible. Even a Williams win..

Can all the Englishmen on this thread stop complaining about LH please? :)

Too bad I cannot watch the full race due to office, but I watched the ESPN backstory about cargo shipping in F1 done by DHL and that was interesting and even better than actual race!
