Thongs (a.k.a. Flip Flops in less evolved countries)

Meaning the USA is a less evolved country? I grew up being told they were flip flops. Now my kids are teaching their kids about flip flops.

I chose "10 or more pairs of different varieties", but, I'm a woman.

I have my Converses I wear most days for casual wear, running shoes, water shoes (for rafting/kayaking/etc), flip-flops, two pairs of flat dress shoes (one gold and one black), and too many pairs of heels to count. I can comfortably say I don't have two pairs that are too close to the same, though. Different colours and styles... I'm not a big shopper, but gotta have a variety of shoes :)

I have 1 work pair, 1 standard pair for house work and going to the store, and 1 pair of boots (steel toe) for when I have to go to factories at work, or back to my parents farm (working with horses they like to step on you sometimes)

I must be out of sync with this. I have a pair of old school converse high-tops. Bought in the early 80s and my Tony Lama boots, which were purchased also in the 80s and a pair of Diamond-back rattlesnake boots for going out.

I'll usually buy good shoes when they look beautiful or if I need to replace some pair that gets old...

There is no fixed "correct" number, so null vote for me! (Y) :p

I was about to point this out--there is no "correct" number; needs, preferences and styles differ for everyone.

Not just that, the poll DOES support individualism, as it is asking basically what's YOUR correct number. (At least I'll give the poll this concept. It might not be explicitly worded like that)

However, my gripe is that even to ME there is no fix number.

It's just that when I see a good pair of shoes, I'll buy it.

I recently discovered that I want to buy more shoes with pink details/lines/pattern, so that's what I'll do in the future, I still have good black-only shoes though, won't be thrown away for some time and then there are others again, etc...

Answer: 4-9 of various types

  1. Casual "rugged" shoes (good for winter)
  2. Casual trainer shoes (good for summer)
  3. Trainers
  4. Work Boots (steel toe capped)
  5. Wellingtons
  6. Smart Shoes (for interviews and such)
  7. Smart Black Shoes (for weddings/funerals)
  8. Spare pair of casual trainer shoes (bought as they were in the sale!)

This is all I have I think.

1 pair for my suit.

Changed my vote from 2-3 to 4-9 because for suits I DO have summer and winter ones.. then there's also winter boots, sportsware and the old pairs that haven't been thrown out.

:)

2x everyday/tennis shoes

1x black leather dress shoes for suit

1x black leather dress shoes for work (I wear a suit)

1x brown leather dressy casual

1x running

Damn... Never thought I'd own more than 2 pair...

1. Multi-sport shoes to move

2. Better-looking multi-sport shoes to go out or work and still feel casual

5. Classy shoes for interviews

4. Safety boots for the times when I need to go on the floor at work

5. Winter boots

6. Sandals

I wish I could change my answer. I chose 2-3 of different varieties.

Normally I would say about one pair but now you've made me think about it:

2-3 pairs of normal shoes

1 pair of suit shoes

1 pair of walking boots

1 pair of rigger boots

1 pair of flip flops

1 pair o slippers (probably, I don't think I've seen them in a few months :pinch:)

possibly more that I can't think of.

Thongs (a.k.a. Flip Flops in less evolved countries)

I call mine flip flops though :s (unless you were referring to the u.s. as a less evolved country, which I agree with)

1x Sneakers

1x Dress Shoes

1x Snow Boots

1x Flip Flops (if those even count)

depends if your male or female.

Female probably 15 pairs of shoes (depending on if they do things like go to formal occassions).

Male - 1 shoe (used to throw at the cat/dog when its annoying you) :D
