Thank Duck For That ...

This mother duck started a flap when all 11 of her new newborn ducklings fell down a drain into a sewer in Herdecke, Germany.

The desperate mum quacked so loudly that passers by came to look and dialed 999 for the fire brigade.

Firefighter Tim Fieber said: "We managed to get the drain cover off and lift nine of them back to the surface."

"The final pair had fallen so deep down the drain we had to carefully flush them out until they popped out the other end. They were a bit smelly but healthy," he added.

Now the only thing left to work out over the two hour rescue - who's going to get the bill for this lot?
