Google I/O 2012

Wow, Android interactive notifications are AWESOME! Cupertino start your copiers :)

That's ironic considering so far they have showed things similar to Siri, Local scout and Nokia maps!

The new search based on location and public transit with surrounding discovery info just took a dump on Apple's implementations. This is so useful and superb.

Smart App Updates. Finally. Not sure what took so long to be able to do something like this, but glad it's here.

Love the Siri inspired natural voice search.

Me too, Google are really stepping up.

Flipboard? Mountain View start your photocopiers.

That's an app that came to Android...

These announcements are great. ICS was superior (in my mind) to iOS, but now Jelly Bean is just that much better.

I enjoyed the conference. Lot of fun stuff. I did baulk at the price of their Nexus Q though. $299 seems rather steep. That is $100 more than their Tablet even. And although I get that it streams content from Google Play I don't think that is worth the $200 premium over a Google TV Box or an Apple TV which basically allows you to do the same stuff which is play Music and Video on attached devices.

Nice enhancements to the phone software too I'm glad they addressed the UI lag which has been my main complaint with the OS since its inception.

Yeah, the Nexus Q has a steep price. It is a nicely designed device, but at $99 or $149, I think it would do better in terms of sales. I also can't wait for project butter!

Agreed, very welcome - the OS looks truly hardware accelerated now.

But guys.. here's the thing.. Nexus Q is designed and manufactured in US. While I totally agree (it should be around $99) it's still commendable they are going back to US. Folks in US need to understand that supporting products like this is good for US in general and will bring more manufacturing back to US.

I think the price is as it is because it's not really meant to be a mainstream product but produced in fairly limited quantities for enthusiasts. Maybe later it will drop to $99.

I'm sure that is nice for the US folks. But they do intend to sell this in the United Kingdom where I am. So for our country there is no benefit.

The demo of Project Glass worn by the skydiver down to Moscone Center was outrageously awesome.

You misunderstood. Google released an app called Currents, which is basically a copy of Flipboard.

A copy of Flipboard? Have you even used Currents? Currents doesn't look anything like Flipboard. It's actually a better app and far more readable than Flipboard where you have to flip to see a new article. It's basically all gimmick and no essence.
