PHOENIX - A Maricopa County Superior Court judge sets a Phoenix woman's bail at $1 million in cash after learning the murder she's accused of was all caught on tape.

Phoenix police had responded to a disturbance call at the Mellon's Encanto home. When officers arrived, they found 46-year-old Donald Mellon, Jr. dead, and his wife, 31-year-old Rebekah Mellon was saying little about what happened.

Mellon appeared for the first time in court today, and that's when prosecutors revealed the murder was caught on video cameras rolling in the home.

"There's video of the actual murder occurring, defendant obtaining a weapon, a handgun from a cabinet, walking into the room where the victim is sitting and shooting him in the head," said a Maricopa County prosecutor via speaker phone.

Mellon's defense attorney said the evidence wasn't in the initial report, and that this was possibly a case of self-defense citing Rebekah Mellon was caught in a violent relationship.

"There's a significant history and past of domestic abuse and violence that has gone on in this relationship by the alleged victim including concussions, broken bones, bruises, multiple contact with police," said Mellon's attorney.

Rebekah Mellon is charged with first-degree murder for the shooting death of her husband. She will appear in court again next week.

You're not, there are sites with all sorts of stuff like that, the videos that appear nowhere else. If you thought 4chan's /b/ was bad you should have a look at those sites, they have all sorts of horrible murder videos of the worst kind. I believe Goregrish is one of them. I highly recommend you don't visit it though, it shows the absolute worst things a human could do.

(just to clarify, I'm not interested in that sort of stuff, but I can see why people would be - curiosity is not a bad thing)

Not really. It depends on how much info is gathered of the abuse. If she had been admitted to the hospital many times, then she has a case. If there isn't anything documenting injuries, then she's screwed. Literally. As for seeing that vid. No Thanx! I've seen enough while I was serving. Not that it would bother me, just why should I voluntarily view such footage?

I agree. Curiosity certainly isn't a bad thing. Watching some of those videos can help one learn how to be safer and more alert in society, too. The only problem for me is that I can't bring myself to watch them, and I can't stomach such gore :p :/

It depends which videos. Some of the videos on those gore/shock sites show accidents that happened because the person being harmed did something without thinking or something that was silly. I believe being made aware of such actions can be educational to some people. It can influence them to start being more careful in life, I think.

Err... maybe. I still don't see why you'd need to see some dying, graphically.

I don't think anyone needs to and I'd rather no one see it (sometimes, seeing such videos can influence people to do terrible things). I was just mentioning that even if someone seeing such a video is undesirable, it could be educational to them.

      The laptop in the bedroom is an Acer with i7-10510U CPU. Acer's website states they will not be upgrading it so I had little choice other than disable secure boot. I know next to nothing on these matters so hopefully it will be fine.

      GitHub removes manual model selection from Copilot free and student plans by Karthik Mudaliar GitHub is removing the ability to manually select an AI model from its Copilot Free and Student plans, making its automatic routing system the default and only way to choose a model. This means users on these tiers will no longer be able to deliberately select a particular OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or Microsoft model for a task. In its announcement, GitHub said Copilot Auto will dynamically choose what it considers the best model for each request. Free and Student accounts will retain access to models from multiple families, although the available selection will continue to depend on the restrictions attached to each plan. GitHub did not identify a fixed pool of models that Auto will always use, and its documentation warns that model availability can change over time. GitHub describes Auto as more than a random fallback system. On supported surfaces, its task-optimization technology evaluates the complexity of a request alongside real-time information about model health and availability. Straightforward prompts can be routed to faster and less expensive models, while more demanding coding tasks may be sent to higher-cost reasoning models. The company says this approach should reduce rate limiting, latency, and failed requests.
