Microsoft introduced the option to use seperate color for windows border in a pre-RTM build of Windows 8.

Sadly, this feature was removed in a later build 844x, which means you are now stuck with the same color for both taskbar and window borders.

I think the white border looked really cool and went with the whole metro feel of the explorer. So I did some googling and came across this little application that allows you get white border for your all your windows no matter what color of your taskbar is.

White Windows For Windows 8

Note: This application is not developed by me and all credit goes to the author of this software.

all that app does is enable and disable a known registry tweak

the registry tweak was posted here a few days ago somewhere, can't remember what section it was posted in though

Sadly there are people in the world who don't know about this registry tweak. Plus some people don't like opening regedit, locating the correct string and changing the dword every time they want to set a theme. They prefer an application that does it for them with just a single click.

Right. Everyone isn't that comfortable with playing with system settings.

Running Regedit is much safer than running any downloaded random exe.
