Egg yolks as bad for your heart as smoking cigarettes

The Canadian study found that people who consume egg

yolks regularly had 2/3 the plaque buildup of smokers.

Think twice before you bite into a hearty breakfast of eggs

benedict slathered in hollandaise sauce ? you may as well

be lighting up, according to a new study.

In terms of cardiovascular risks, the yolk-based sauce that

makes the dish so good is almost as bad for you as smokin

g cigarettes, researchers in Canada found.

?One jumbo chicken egg yolk has about 237 milligrams of

cholesterol,? study author Dr. David Spence told CNN.

Spence explains that eating large amounts of cholesterol

causes plaque buildup in the blood vessels, the same way

smoking does.

When plaque builds up, the artery walls become thicker,

limiting the amount of blood that can get through the vessels

to the heart and upping risk for heart disease.

His research, published online in the journal Atherosclerosis,

found that people who eat egg yolks regularly have about

2/3 as much plaque buildup as smokers.

Yolk-lovers? buildup ?follows a similar pattern to that of

cigarette smoking,? researchers wrote.

People who ate three or more yolks per week had significantly

more buildup than those who ate two or less yolks per week.

Spence, a neurology professor at the University of Western

Ontario?s medical school, and two colleagues looked at more

than 1,200 patients for the research.

All already had carotid plaque issues or a family history of

cardiovascular disease. Their average age was about 60

years old, but Spence stresses that cardiovascular health

is important at all ages.

?Just because you are 20 doesn?t mean egg yolks aren?t

going to cause any trouble down the line,? he told CNN.

Spence says researchers chose to compare the effects of

eating egg yolks with the effects of smoking to provide people

with perspective, as eating yolks is typically considered

?insignificant? compared to smoking.

But some health experts say it isn?t a fair comparison.

cholesterol is part of your immune system. consuming polyunsaturated fats damages arteries, thats the reason there is plaque build up. chosing to eat saturated fats such as lard, butter and cocunut oil is healthier than vegetebable oils which are the recommended by the fda and is used all over the industry. and people wonder why there is so much heart disease and people dying, because of misinformation and myths. dont believe everything you hear on the tv.

This month they're bad for you...next month they'll be good for you.

Eat sensibly, eat whatever you want. Life's too short not to enjoy it.

Everything is bad for you. If you get down to the brass tacks. It's why people urinate and excrete. Everything we eat or drink has toxins, so the body has to flush it all out. If there was no toxins there would be no reason to urinate or excrete.

Eat whatever you like, you're going to die anyway no matter what.

But eating healthy food can significantly increase your life expectancy. Roughly decades!

Very obese people have average life expectancy of approximately 40 years. People with normal weight have of around 70 years.

Everything is bad for you. If you get down to the brass tacks. It's why people urinate and excrete. Everything we eat or drink has toxins, so the body has to flush it all out. If there was no toxins there would be no reason to urinate or excrete.

I don't think water falls into this category. everything else is toxic once consumed, so its excreted as bodily waste. Just realize that milk and eggs are not good for you anymore, and you should enjoy them for their taste and not any assumed health benefit.

I was also told that eggs which are cooked at 100C or so (in boiling water) are much better for you than eggs fried in 300-400F frying pans. This is because a few things won't break down in the low cooking temperature.

Sunday morning - 2 eggs over easy (fried in butter), 4 strips of bacon, hashbrowns cooked in pure butter and 1 Bays english muffin lightly toasted and slathered with, what else, BUTTER!!!! nom nom nom

Oh and I wash all that down with a diet coke, have to watch the sugar intake.

These days we seem to be told pretty much everything is bad for our health. I personally just don't give a crap, i'd rather die enjoying my life than live to be 130 by eating dull and boring food.

first of all, eating cholesterol doesnt translate to the cholesterol in your blood. if this "researcher" doesn't understand that, then his whole study is a sham. And correlation doesnt mean it is the cause. I'm sick of these researchers with their bogus information.

watch out for TEH ASPARTAMEZ that will give you a brain tumor

Nowadays anything you eat or drink is bad for you no matter what it is. Even oral sex has been said to cause tongue and throat cancer. I say enjoy life to the fullest and eat sensibly, that's all.

LDL or HDL? They never tell you.

Why would they? You could eat 'fry ups' for the next 50 years and live till god knows??? Similarly, you could avoid them for the next 50 years and live till god knows???

Then again, they could tell you your cholesterol level and you will get worried about it, but could die tomorrow regardless of that fact? So, meaningless really :)

Lights another cigarette, drinks another drink, and looks forward to my fry up :) Hey, you only live once! and I ain't gonna waste it trying to live a little longer lol! :)

If your gonna go, your gonna go ;)

    • iPhone 18 Pro drop-test video and photos leak on the dark web following a data breach by Hamid Ganji iPhone 17 Pro - Image via Apple Apple is seemingly facing one of the biggest data breaches in its history, and just a few months before the official debut of the iPhone 18 Pro series, photos, a drop-test video, a supplier list, and key phone components have reportedly been leaked by hackers. Last week, we reported that Tata Electronics, an Apple supplier and iPhone producer in India, was hit by a data breach. As a result, it was reported that more than 200,000 trade secrets and confidential documents belonging to Apple and Tesla were stolen by the ransomware group World Leaks. According to Reuters, the group has now leaked supplier lists, component details, and photos of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models on the dark web. One of the materials leaked by the hackers is a drop-test video of the iPhone 18 Pro, which is due to launch this September. The phone is shown in a gray color and has the same familiar design we saw on last year's iPhone 17 Pro series. The device also appears to be quite durable, though it seems to be thicker than last year's model. One possible explanation is that Apple may be using a larger battery in the iPhone 18 Pro series. Moreover, Reuters says it has seen at least six documents mapping many components in the iPhone 18 Pro models to their respective suppliers, including details on chips on the main circuit board and on battery and camera components. The documents reportedly detail hundreds of parts that will be used in the iPhone 18 Pro models. A person familiar with the matter told the outlet that Apple classifies this data as sensitive and “is concerned about the documents being shared on the dark web as they relate to unreleased models.” Apple is reportedly investigating the issue but has yet to issue an official statement.
    • You do you, I've just said that it first appeared in "home" version before it will be available in "work" one. I use Edge only because it still supports MV2 uBO extension even on Android - I'll switch when they stop.
    • I imagine that was a review or something? My reviews mostly contain a lot of images and galleries, but these are all webp too, but yeah it all adds up on the page load. Would help if you were more helpful with your critique instead of bitching and moaning like a Karen 😂 Because then we might be able to fix it for you.
    • If Valve refused to let them make the case, I wonder if they've already partnered with someone else to do it? The fact that they didn't seek permission/licence before diving straight in is incredible though
