Guardian - "Two British soldiers were killed when a man wearing an Afghan police uniform opened fire on them in Helmand province, southern Afghanistan.

The soldiers, from 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, were shot dead at a checkpoint in Nahr-e Saraj on Tuesday, the Ministry of Defence said. Their families had been informed.

Major Laurence Roche, spokesman for taskforce Helmand, said: "The loss of these soldiers is a huge blow to The Royal Gurkha Rifles and everyone serving in taskforce Helmand. Our thoughts are with their families, friends and fellow Gurkhas at this time."

An investigation has been launched into what appears to have been the latest insider or "green-on-blue" attack on coalition troops by members of Afghan security forces, a trend that Nato's secretary general has admitted is sapping trust and has already forced the US military to limit joint operations with Afghan troops.

The surge in attacks has also led to doubts that Afghan forces will be ready for the planned takeover from international troops in 2014.

The latest attack reportedly happened in or near Gereshk, a town at the heart of Helmand's central district of Nahr-e Saraj, the most violent part of the province.

The killing of the Gurkhas would bring the UK death toll from green-on-blue attacks to 11 so far this year. There was only one such British death last year, three in 2010 and five in 2009. In all, 437 UK services personnel or civilians working for the MoD have now died in Afghanistan since October 2001, 394 of them killed in action or dying of their wounds.

More than 50 international troops have been killed by Afghan soldiers or police in 2012. More than 50 Afghan members of the government's security forces have died also in attacks by their own colleagues."

It's clear that the Afghans are not our allies and we (meaning all coalition troops) should leave immediately.

I hope that was sarcasm, attacks like these have targeted just as many Afghanis.

Destroy the whole country. Put it back to stone age and leave.

Thats the way to do it (Y)

Yes despite the years of effort we've invested helping these people, let's now turn around and openly commit genocide because of the actions of the people we're fighting there anyway. People will love the West for that.

they like us at the moment?

Why the hell are people talking like we have a right to be there?

They certainly don't but to be honest i cannot blame them. Their country is in bits.

It's been in bits since like... forever. It's what happens when an area is rife with religious extremism and extreme hate for basically everything else.

It's clear that the Afghans are not our allies and we (meaning all coalition troops) should leave immediately.

Not our allies and you know this how? You talk to them everyday, because I do. I work here. many of them are happy we (the coalition) are here. We have injected a ton of money into the economy even though many are still poor. Around the bases and camps, we employ many of them as contractors to do work and that pays very well.

It is a third world country but it is not in the bits.

that country is doomed. eventually, someone will pull the trigger....

Not true. Many have tried all failed. The country will take generations to make changes. It is already starting. Yes there are a few out there that do not want the coalition here just like people in the USA fight against their own government.

Now the US government states that all these murders are self contained and do not show any evidence of a big conspiracy.

No, No it wasn't, **** them if they think they can attack anyone willing to help them, they should've been glassed after 9/11.

Again I live here as a contractor working. What basis are you going off of? Second, third hand or just made up.

A few of them have attacked. AGAIN these are Afghans attacking not Terrorists. What about American born terrorists? Should be just burn the entire state they are from too?

do you even know how much turmoil the coalition does on farmers in the area? Of course you don't.

Nope, nor do I care, and unfortunately, you're trying to rationalize and increasing amount of green on blue attacks. Whose side are you on, really? How can I sit here and say.. "oh Afghan soldiers and police are attacking and killing US and Nato troops, but that's okay, they deserved." Seriously, go **** yourself if you think of defending these pricks, I'm standing by my troops, not some "contractor" working in Afghanistan.

Im rationalizing nothing. I am just pulling my information from the leadership (millitary). The soldiers and the leadership that protect you also have decided to protect them. I go outside the wire more than most soldiers here. Only difference between me is I do not use a weapon, I have a convoy. And I never say anyone deserved it, again, I am pulling my info from high USA command.

these attacks are not based on religious or political agendas ( its not terrorism). this was found by repeated investigations. Most of the time the person that did the initial attack is killed on site. It is not tolerated by the military or the police here.

FYI: I was a soldier. I did fight in a war, and take part in 2 NATO peace keeping missions. Im a veteran and now a contractor serving my country.

    • Google was using the old CATPCHAs data to train their LLMs. What is the say they won't use this camera data of users to train their LLM? these companies need some strict regulations!
    • Depends on what you need. Might be a bit clearer on what you plan to do with it. Sort of a waste if you get the newest and greatest, but don't know how to use it.

    • Hi everyone, I'm planning a small network upgrade and was wondering how others prepare their networks for future needs. Do you usually invest in higher-speed switches and better cabling from the start, or do you upgrade only when necessary? I'd be interested in hearing what has worked well for you and any lessons you've learned over time. Thanks!
