Explain this balance sheet ...

You can't get the total from the remaining balance:

50 rupees:
spend 1 => 49 rupees left
spend 1 => 48 rupees left
spend 48 => 0 rupees left
49+48+0 = 97

Where did this extra 47 rupees come from?

I did the math the normal way and came up with 50 so I was lost in the joke... because the joke is just being really bad at the simplest of economics.
