NEW YouTube layout

youtube vid

nice vid :) subbed ;)

The new style is cleaner, which I can appreciate, but Google's new trend of leaving a ton of wasted space at larger resolutions is terrible.

I find it funny that if you read their web designer pages there is loads of stuff about being responsive/adaptive

i like the new layout and the new options allot (guide menu, shuffle and repeat buttons and more), but since i have a 1280x768 resolutions i never saw a problem; i now see that for bigger resolutions there's a waste space problem. Still, that's no biggie.

Youtube changed? What is this?! Dammit, I am tired of change!

BACK IN MY DAY WE DIDN'T HAVE AVATARS NEXT TO OUR NAMES EVERYWHERE! WE DIDN'T NEED GUIDES ON WEBSITES TO FIND OUR WAY AROUND!

Nah, it's fine. I don't like the user pictures on comments, or the guide thing, but really, I just go there to watch videos, and leave so I don't really care. Most of the time spent is in fullscreen anyway or staring at the video, so I don't pay attention to the layout.

Awesome! That works great! Thank you so much!!!! :cat:

i know, that alone makes the new layout so much more bearable :)

now i just need to find a way to get the light grey background of the old layout back to lessen the eyestrain of the pure white and it'll be perfect

I don't browse with a maximised window, so it doesn't really bother me. I have a 2560-pixel-wide screen. I can fit 2 whole Safari windows on the screen. Consequently, I really don't browse with maximised window. Things would look horrible.

Decided to go ahead and install greasemonkey to use that script.

I found another useful script as well..

That one makes it so when you click on the youtube logo you go directly to:

Useful. Getting closer to the usability of older versions of youtube now.

I use both Stylish and Greasemonkey. And with both i can get some good results on YouTube.

For Greasemonkey, i use this extension: http://greasefire.userscripts.org/scripts/show/120134

And to get more darker colors on YouTube so they aren't to sharp to my eyes, then i use this Stylish extension: http://userstyles.org/styles/62289/black-youtube-by-panos

And lastly, i use this Stylish extension to fix up some things with the new YouTube design: http://userstyles.org/styles/57297/youtube-design-fixes

If you use this, then the YouTube site and viewing will be much much better.

Let me know how it is for those who tries this :D

managed to get the look of youtube perfectly how I like it now :)

used this userscript to make the layout centered http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/153606

and only the background portion of this userstyle to bring back the light grey background pattern of the old layout http://userstyles.org/styles/79580/youtube-get-the-old-design-back-dec-7

That's a nice layout! Congrats!

I've always used magic actions, i disable almost everything except for auto wide and auto hd.

It now has been updated with a centre option :)

give it a go.

(I use adblock to remove the bar under the video that magic actions inserts)

    • Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip brings on-device AI to Android XR devices by Pradeep Viswanathan Qualcomm has been delivering dedicated SoCs for mixed reality and spatial computing devices for several years. The journey started with the Snapdragon XR1, followed by the Snapdragon XR2 in 2019, the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 in September 2023, and finally the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 in 2024. Today, Qualcomm announced a major upgrade with the new Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform, which targets premium mixed reality and spatial computing devices. OEMs can use this SoC to power both all-in-one video-see-through headsets and lightweight, tethered optical-see-through glasses. Qualcomm highlighted that the Snapdragon Reality Elite will power the next wave of Android XR devices coming later this year. These wearables will offer better visuals, improved power efficiency, and deeper on-device AI integration compared to the previous generation. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can deliver up to 48 TOPS of AI performance, allowing large language models and large vision models to run directly on the device for the first time. In addition to enabling new spatial AI experiences, these new AI capabilities will improve head and hand tracking, as well as see-through features. On the performance side, the Snapdragon Reality Elite offers up to 60% higher GPU performance, up to 30% higher CPU performance, and up to 160% higher NPU performance compared to the previous generation. The platform supports visuals of up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second for sharper images and smoother motion. Qualcomm is also claiming significant efficiency improvements. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can offer up to 20% longer battery life under the same workload. More importantly, the chipset can run up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under load, making headsets more comfortable for users to wear for longer periods. The platform also includes improvements to video see-through, featuring lower latency and better image quality. Qualcomm states that its EVA hardware block helps accelerate demanding computer vision workloads, improving how digital content blends with the real world.
    • Umm... GitHub continues to use AWS. That's the story, that's the headline. There's no "new" news here. GitHub continues to require additional capacity beyond the originally-planned Azure allocations. There's nothing special about this; nothing noteworthy. They're still using AWS' infra until the cutover is complete.

    • Hello, I have used a few TEAM Group SSDs, USB flash drives, and Micro SDXC cards in the past. They all seemed to work fine. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
