Brandon H Supervisor Share Posted December 7, 2012 Yeah, I rely on the download button though, hopefully they will fix it sooner rather than later. i give it a weekthe author of the script is usually pretty quick when youtube makes changes (though this be a little bigger than some of the previous back end changes)
TCA Share Posted December 7, 2012 Finally got it the other day and they seriously should fix the huge blank space on the right side for 1920x1024+ resolutions... 1 Share
Coi Share Posted December 7, 2012 Why do people keep comparing this to the Immersive UI? :s I think it has little to do with Metro. To be honest, new interfaces are fine for me as long as the "Uploads only" option doesn't get removed (like it temporarily did before)
Wakers Share Posted December 7, 2012 Wouldn't mind if it took up the centre of the screen like the old layout. But just have the entire thing crammed into half of a 1920x1080 screen with masses of empty space on the right hand side (save for your user link in the top right and a feedback button in the bottom left) is amateurish. 1 Share
+trag3dy Subscriber² Share Posted December 7, 2012 Some things I like about it, others I don't. I like the new look. I like the actual video window. I like being able to type to search through my subs. I don't like that the entire page is all squished to the left. I don't like that I have to now perform 2 extra mouse clicks just to see uploads only, I don't give a rats ass about what youtube thinks I should be watching. I don't like that the youtube channels I watch the most don't float to the top of the subscription list like they used to. I think the cons outweigh the pros, for me. Seems like googles goal with each new version of youtube is to make it as inconvenient to use as possible. More and more I think about using Miro again to get my youtube videos. 1 Share
theyarecomingforyou Share Posted December 7, 2012 I use Magic Actions to increase the width of videos and have them default to 1080p: The homepage is still incredibly inefficient in terms of utilising screen space but that's unfortunately true of so many websites.
ingramator Author Share Posted December 7, 2012 I use Magic Actions to increase the width of videos and have them default to 1080p: Thats pretty good like that but for videos without 1080p then you're back to the misalignment!
theyarecomingforyou Share Posted December 7, 2012 Thats pretty good like that but for videos without 1080p then you're back to the misalignment! It doesn't, actually. The video size stays the same, even with 240p videos - it's a multi-functional extension. :)
Damien Share Posted December 7, 2012 The new look is clean, but it does waste a lot of space as mentioned. Google should give users the ability to customize the page as they see fit and make use of all that space.
HoochieMamma Share Posted December 7, 2012 Oh thank God, I thought I was the only one!!! 1 Share
Guth Share Posted December 7, 2012 See on the botom right of the page, there is a button "feedback". everyone please click it and tell google we hate the new youtube! also, I use magic actions and set videos to auto wide but its not working for me any more with this update. I mean it works but then the vid goes small again Working now! edit: I will add that YouTube is way faster for me now :) I mean page load/latency
Chris123NT Share Posted December 7, 2012 When I first saw this I thought it was an issue with the latest chrome dev build, but no. This left alignment is driving me absolutely nuts, at least center the freakin thing. 1 Share
ViperAFK Share Posted December 7, 2012 Looks flat and Metro on IE 10 only. Still looks like the previous design on Chrome. Wonder if it's supposed to do that... EDIT: Here's a pic, BTW: Looks flat on chrome for me. They always tend to roll these out progressively using cookies, so on one computer or browser you may see it already, on others not. Nothing to do with what browser you use.
+trag3dy Subscriber² Share Posted December 7, 2012 Yeah so after using it for a few hours I've never been more frustrated using youtube than with this new layout. It just makes navigating so tedious and un fun.
ToneKnee Share Posted December 7, 2012 I like it, but it's weird that it's not centered, then again it matches up with Google search etc.
He's Dead Jim Share Posted December 7, 2012 Is the update to cater for the increased number of mobile/phone users with small screens?
Wakers Share Posted December 7, 2012 Is the update to cater for the increased number of mobile/phone users with small screens? Don't see why it would be, they have an app that comes pre-loaded with just about every single portable device.
Guth Share Posted December 7, 2012 At least the videos are centred. Its just the browse page that isn't. Easily sorted with Stylish if you really wanted to. I have Magic actions set to auto-wide videos so what really annoys me is this: http://www.bounceapp.com/82639
Detection Share Posted December 7, 2012 It looks better but feels a bit weird being off centre Tried to send feedback but it just keeps making me sign in, which I already am
Crisp Share Posted December 7, 2012 I'm not a fan of the white empty space. I just hope to hell they keep the black bezel for the video box.
