Last one that got me really hooked. Lupe Fiasco had a few duds here and there but the last album is really solid.

The below is personal opinion:

This guy released ONE album (if you want, one and a half). I personally don't think he can be considered one of the all time greats.

Cru, the group, also released ONE album and it was awesome like Big L's. The group split up and basically nothing "wow" has came out....

A bit of the same except to a less extent; He released several albums (some better than others) but really non consistent . Ive always thought he thought the ideas but had a ghostwriter.

Again those were all opinions :)

Never said they were all time greats. Lifestyles ov da poor an dangerous, while having pretty decent lyrics severly lacked production quality. The Big Picture was released posthumously and had better production.

Slick rick is hit and miss for me somewhat, some songs I really like, others I can't see the fuss.

Some other recommendations:

Kool G Rap, if you like mafioso gangsta rap, you might like him.

Dr. Octagon, one of Kool Keith's alter egos. It's alternative hip-hop.

MF Doom, he has some good stuff, especially some of his **** with MF Grimm, like Madvilliany.

ef@mm, Tonedeff, packfm, and 2 other dudes. Happy **** you songs is a pretty good album

Mos Def, black on both sides is one of my fav albums.

Let me know if you want more.

Also, if you like DMX, one of my favorite albums of all-time was a one-off from a guy called Nine.

Tech N9ne. I know hes been around quite a long time but I just started listening to him and all I gotta say is WOW

He used Tech9 as someone he already liked.

IMO, his only real solid album was his first. Don't get me wrong his other songs are generally good, but his first album was perfectly put together.

Never said they were all time greats. Lifestyles ov da poor an dangerous, while having pretty decent lyrics severly lacked production quality. The Big Picture was released posthumously and had better production.

I completely agree with you

Celph Titled (Wordplay/Metaphor artist)

Member of AOTP. I have no idea what this guy eats for breakfast to write what he writes

The problem is that this guy seems to be all his life "underground" and I personally don't agree with that. Imagine you are a employee; Do you want to stay an employee with your salary because its "cool" and you don't want to be the CEO that everyone critiques for every little **** up he does?

With Celph I actually had a argument and lost a bit of respect for him....Ill try to search for the post if I can....

Of the current batch of rappers out there I only really like Tyler The Creator and his Odd Future Collective, seem to be the only ones actually trying different things, all others are the same played out stuff I've been hearing since the 80's

So by your logic DMX is to be compared to Lil wayne, drake and all that crap? Sure thing :) I think we got different opinions on that.

Even Undisputed (The worst DMX album by far) goes harder than anything Drake-kinda artists got out.

As far as I see there are only a few real mainstream/underground (Don't know how to explain it in English, somehwere between those two) artists left on the scene that could pull something off that I'd really like, one of them is DMX the other one being Ice cube. Just need to wait what comes out of Everythings Corrupt album and as far as I know DMX's new album in 2013 should be something he did in his prime.
