And where is the fine for Apple for trying to get Samsung products banned?

Its not about trying to get products banned, its about using standards patents.

does anyone actually read the story before commenting?

if it was MS would you say the same?? yeah!! I you would lick their ...

You accidentally a word there, but I get the jist of it. If you go back to any of the numerous front page articles about Microsoft vs the EU, you'll see that I'm supportive of the EU there too. Don't mistake my support of consumer rights to be some kind of weird fanboyism.

I wish they would focus on forcing Apple & Microsoft (in RT) to stop their anti competitive policy's in their marketplaces.

What exactly is anti-competitive about an OS with less than a 1% market share such as Windows RT?

It's funny... Apple does the same things *COUGH* rounded corners *COUGH*.

Umm Apple never released their patents of round corners for fair use, round corners are also not "essential".

This is a fine because Samsung tried to do what Motorola is trying to do, usa patents that are released under the fair use license to stop other companies, I expect Motorola and Google will be next.

if it was MS would you say the same?? yeah!! I you would lick their ...

If MS was found abusing fair use patents, then they would be just as wrong as Samsung and Motorola.

my point being, the reason why you support EU is because its not MS.I really dont care about EU or samsung. all i care is the judgement is fair.
15 bn in fine??? thats not fair in any world. would you say OK when MS has to pay 15 bn a year for wireless patents to motorola. yeah. you view would be opposite.

so MS never abused fair patents?? check the history book again. exactly why my point. just to point out people like you exist.

What does history matter, MS has paid their fines many times over. and that history is 15 years old now. and they have changed a lot since then.

And actually, they never did abuse the fair patents, that's never been what they've been charged with, they've been charged with abusing a monopoly situation, though I don't necessarily agree with that, since internet people back then where pretty much all tech geeks and know how to change a browser, and people where switching away from a terrible netscape to a superior IE before it was included with windows.

As for your MS and Motorola example, Motorola is the one that's actually abusing the fair use patents, and using them as a weapon after releasing them as fair use MPEG4 patents.

get YOUR facts straight. MS has done bad things, they have been fined for them, but it's never been about fair use patents.

Doesn't matter what people actually think, the fact remains that Greece/Spain/Italy etc. needs another bailout package and EU found a new cow to milk to do it. Money doesn't grow on trees and countries like Finland and Estonia are actually asking for assurances already that they'll get their money back.

It's funny how people from Norway speak out on this while they don't pay anything into the bailout funds while the rest of us actually suffer under this crap and see exactly whats going on. F***** economy specialists.

Also HawkMan, you can write paragraphs of text here but that doesn't automatically mean those are all facts and everybody else is stupid and doesn't know what they are talking about. Gotta love your ego tho, can I borrow it sometimes?

^ Are you saying that you think the fines MS were hit with, WERE to do with patents? Because he's right, you know. All you have to do is look it up yourself. Those fines were 100% to do with monopoly abuse and nothing at all to do with patents.

Where did I even mention MS? As far as I can see it's about Samsung.

HawkMan was talking about MS in his post above; 1+1 generally equals 2.

Actually what I was reffering to was about his sentence about "rounded corner patents aren't essential patents".
