When setting up a backup on a Win7 machine, I choose the location to backup to and am then asked what I would like to backup. Instead of letting Windows decide, I choose the "Let me decide" option. I can then select folders or hard drives on the machine and there is also a tickbox for "Create system drive image" or something along those lines.

My question is, if I have decided to create a "system image", do I still need to choose to backup my system drive by checking it in the list of disks? Just seems odd that it is still an option if you are creating a system image. I guess its to do with how the data is backed up? I noticed the system image is a VHD. If anyone could confirm or deny this I would be grateful.

Thanks

I am not sure but I think it works.
"System Image" literally means that it create backup of your whole data. You may take risk on this option but don't forget to keep an image of data.
