Heya guys!

My friend has an Android based Smartphone, don't know the version, but it's an LG.

She does seem to have some Emoji on her device (stock/3rd party? idk) that look just like the iOS versions, however she can't receive even those same Emojis from my iPhone.

We'd like to be able to send each other, possibly all 600+ emoji, so her device must probably get a font installed that will work with the unicode characters (or which ever Apple Emoji are registered in) that iOS uses.

We want to send and receive as native text, so no pictures, as this shall work via SMS. :3

I'm asking this here, because I know that some of those kinds of programs sometimes come with nagware, spyware and other unwanted code, so it'd be sweet to get personal recommendations from my trusted Neowin friends! :)

Thanks in advance!

If your friend has a 4.0+ device, I wouldn't worry about the nag adverts with those programs. You can block those starting in ICS. Otherwise to answer your question, most of the time those type of apps are culprit.

You can also use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector&hl=en after you install an app to see if it is culprit.

Thank you, now I only need to know an app that will supply us with the needed font set. :)

wow, thanks, that's a step forward for sure. :)

[...]

Limitation:

This app is not able to make Android to display the emoji.

If you want to see the emoji icon on your device, please follow the steps below to replace the font.

1. you need to have a rooted device

Her device isn't rooted though I guess and I'm not sure whether she's comfortable doing it/getting it done by someone else.

Hmmm, but thanks so far already. This would be an input method, now on to maybe an alternative way to get the font installed, if somehow possible sans rooting?

What are the opinions on this?

For that you need to install (almost) the whole line of GO apps, from launcher to keyboard, in order to use it.

I would suggest you the JellyBean 4.2 native emoji keyboard here:

She explicitly wants the iPhone ones.

She even has some of them already on her phone, but they don't work between our devices.

She's really into the Apple emoji set and wants that badly and I'd love to do her the favor of finding a way for her to get them ^^

And fair enough on the GO apps part, that's a shame... :/

O well.....

I think +Brando212's got the exact app she wants.

did you look at the one I posted? it costs $2 but it does exactly what you want without having to install a dozen different things

Probably the best bet yea...

This will replace her stock SMS app right?

Will it import the previous messages?

    • O&O ShutUp10 3.1.1104 by Razvan Serea O&O ShutUp10 offers a simple yet effective way to take control of your Windows privacy. It provides access to almost 50 privacy-related tweaks, most of them hidden or not easily accessible to the average computer users. Using a very simple interface, you decide how Windows 10/11 should respect your privacy by deciding which unwanted functions should be deactivated. Using ShutUp10 you can easily disable Windows Defender, turn off telemetry, disable peer-to-peer updates, turn off Wi-Fi Sense, disable automatic Windows updates, turn off and reset Cortana and more. ShutUp10 allows you to create a System Restore point before you apply any changes, so that you can revert your system at any time if you run into problems. O&O ShutUp10 is entirely free and does not have to be installed – it can be simply run directly and immediately on your PC. And it will not install or download retrospectively unwanted or unnecessary software, like so many other programs do these days! O&O ShutUp10 Free and Premium The latest version brings O&O ShutUp10 Premium, expanding the app’s long-standing privacy controls with automatic enforcement of user-defined settings. Instead of manually rechecking options after every Windows update, users can set their preferred privacy configuration once—or apply recommended settings in a single click—and the tool continuously monitors them in the background. If Windows 10 or 11 re-enables disabled features or introduces new data collection paths, Premium restores the chosen settings automatically without user intervention. The free version remains available and fully functional for manual adjustments, offering the same core privacy controls for Windows. However, the Premium tier is aimed at users who want long-term, hands-off protection, adding automatic reapplication after updates, ongoing monitoring, and optional notifications to ensure privacy settings remain consistent over time. • Fascinating...W h i t e P o w e r is now also asterisks out.
    • In the past few days I have noticed two odd moderation activities. First, when I posted the term 'White Nationist Christian' it was asterisk's out. When I changed it to **** it was allowed! Second, in the Politics is a ###business thread I was allowed to post that the GOP is a party of p e d ophiles but I was censored  when I posted the GOP are a party of p e d ophile protectors. Wtf Neowin. Please explain.
