WindowsAndroid - Run Android from Windows as a native app

Recommended Posts

It doesn't run Android as if it was a tablet though. Which I believe is what we are trying to do. We're just playing around with it.

It does, it lets you choose the form factor in the settings for each app, so just choose tablet.

Chrome for Android is x86 compatible though.

Oh really?

Is there a list of x86 compatible apps. I'd like to check my apps against them to see if i see the same error with some.

Yeah but this is vanilla Android.

I'm pretty sure that's why the few of us are playing with it.

Bluestacks lets you mess with the OS ? I only remember getting some small Apps only screen

Yea, the point is, it doesn't boot the Android OS, Android that you can use as an OS ;)

I've got a file manager working. Placed the APK directly into /system/app/ and reboot.

As stated previously in the thread. You can't simply add the apps to downloads and install them as you can't set third party source installs.

No, I mean WindowsAndroid is vanilla and that BlueStacks isn't a real working OS liek we're playing with here.

Can you link to the apk you used for the file manager?

I tried a lot and they all failed to load

I understand what you mean :)

Just a quick note reg. Chrome for Android.

Chrome can not be installed from the Google Play store if you have an Android version below v 4.1, so only 4.1 + through the Play store.

I have had some success installing apk's for chrome on lower versions before, but some versions out there are fake or older versions not fit for regular use. Be cautious when using those custom apk's! If you have a rooted Android phone (or ideally a tablet) with Chrome you can attempt to extract it, but I can not guarantee it will work. Nandroid backup method mentioned above is a good way to try it.

I will play with this version once it runs, getting a openGL error saying it is v. 1.10 which is BS. Updating drivers and will see.

Maybe I will try to make a cyanogenmod version of it with included file manager and gapps.. Sounds fun :)

This is really going to be cool when they finally get all the bugs worked out. Can't wait for that to happen.

Word.. So far this version is pretty unstable, but I will look at running other versions on this kernel tomorrow.. Play store never finish downloading, rotation issue, etc etc.

If I get a more stable version working I will post it for sure :)

I think the problem with downloading via the Play Store is that it doesn't know what the phone/tablet is. I've updated mine as another device, and it still doesn't work.

I'm not sure what checks the store does though. The device I'm using isn't x86, so that could still be an issue.

Yeah, will have to spoof the device to know for sure.. Will update tomorrow and see where it goes

It's because it's obviously running x86 so most apps won't be compatible as they are made for ARM.

Once again... this is not the problem, My phone is the XT890 (RAZRi intel atom x86) and every app works, the ones that haven't worked are chaos rings 1 and 2 from square enix and that has to do with the fact that the graphics acceleration isn't compatible at all)

This maintenance-focused release includes bug fixes, updated translations, and a range of safe enhancements. This release fixes a Windows security issue that could allow arbitrary file deletion during privileged cleaning (reported by Zeze with TeamT5). It also adds new cleaners (including a DNS cache cleaner, Claude Code, and Visual Studio Code forks), support for multiple Chrome and Edge profiles, new deep scan options for developer directories like node_modules and venv, and safer, faster file shredding. All Platforms Added cleaners for Claude Code, DNS cache, and many Visual Studio Code forks. Added support for multiple Chrome and Edge profiles. Chrome can now clean downloaded AI models. Deep Scan can optionally remove venv, __pycache__, node_modules, and .angular directories. Deep Scan is faster by skipping directories on the keep list. File shredding is safer, faster, and leaves fewer recoverable traces. Improved handling of cookies, symlinks, Unicode filenames, external processes, and configuration files. Improved Expert Mode warnings and long warning dialogs. Fixed crashes related to cleaner detection, invalid Unicode, and malformed cleaner data. Clipboard is now cleared automatically after shredding files via paste operations. Linux Added AppImage support. Fixed Wayland root CLI issues and several Snap-related problems. Improved package dependencies, AppStream metadata, and desktop file handling. Fixed startup crashes when Python Requests is unavailable. Windows Fixed a security vulnerability that could allow arbitrary file deletion when cleaning with elevated privileges. Added %WindowsSystem% variable support. Improved clipboard clearing using native Windows APIs. Improved installer experience on unsupported Windows versions. Reduced installer size and improved application robustness. Fixed Unicode handling, filename anonymization, Git revision reporting, and splash screen stability. • DriversCloud 12.1.6 by Razvan Serea With DriversCloud (formerly My-Config.com), you can explore your computer easily, safely and free. The application quickly scans your PC and identifies the hardware and software components. DriversCloud then establishes a list of the different drivers compatible with your OS and hardware. Download the drivers needed for the proper functioning of your computer. To detect your drivers, DriversCloud also displays a detailed summary of your hardware and software configuration, analyzes your BSOD, monitors in real-time your PC voltages and temperatures and lets you share your configuration online. Once the hardware components have been detected, you will be able to obtain with just a few clicks the latest drivers corresponding to the identified hardware. You can record your configuration on the site for free, and can get the corresponding URL to post the configuration to technical forums, e-mail and social networks. You can also download the detection result (the configuration) as a PDF file. To protect the user's privacy and data confidentiality, a 4-level confidentiality system was created that filters the XML marks and gives control to the user. The default level can be modified in the preferences. Using the maximum level will prevent the user from publishing his configuration and generating a corresponding PDF file. In non-connected mode, each XML configuration is stored on the server for one day (for practical reasons). However, you are given the opportunity to manually delete it. Created in 2004, and continually improved, My-Config.com has established itself on the web as a free service to PC users running Windows and Linux operating systems. The service is designed to work with the most common Internet browsers (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari).
